Herbie Hancock "I Thought It Was You" The lead track off of Herbie's 1978 jazz-funk album Sunlight showcases Herbie's voice patched through a vocoder.
Herbie's funk started to smooth out as he got closer to the 1980s, but this groove is still tight to me. ----- This song can be found on a new two-disc Union Square compilation called Jazz Funk Sessions.

This song is the blueprint for alot of Daft Punk's material. They should literally kiss the ground Herbie "Headhunter"Hancock walks on for real. Now, those who are Old School fools like myself know exactly what I'm talking about. [Edited 7/29/05 13:30pm]

That song is a grower. When I first heard it on the "Sunlight" CD ,I didn't think much about it , but after a few spins, it became one of my favorites of Hancock's jamz.
Nothin' on there touches "Headhunters" , tho. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....."
