We live on mountain riiight at the top.....

Is this the best Bjork song ever? the lyrics, the melody, the video, the godess. for me this is one of my top 5 fav songs ever.

If you haven't heard it track it down, this what the song is about:

It was inspired by a situation I saw a lot of my friends get in to. I really like reading magazines about science, you see, and when people fall in love, they make this kind of drug in their bodies so they become addicted to each other physically.

Nature makes things so that the drug lasts for three years, so if they're together they're just on a natural high. Nature makes sure that people get three years to sort out if they want to be together for life or not; that three years is a try out time. Then they wake up and it's a 'Whoops, what am I doing here?' kind of thing? Then they are forced to sort out if they love the person, like real love, or if it was just a trick.

Lyrics:
"Hyper Ballad"

we live on a mountain
right at the top
there's a beautiful view
from the top of the mountain
every morning i walk towards the edge
and throw little things off
like:
car-parts, bottles and cutlery
or whatever i find lying around

it's become a habit
a way
to start the day

i go through this
before you wake up
so i can feel happier
to be safe up here with you

it's real early morning
no-one is awake
i'm back at my cliff
still throwing things off
i listen to the sounds they make
on their way down
i follow with my eyes 'til they crash
imagine what my body would sound like
slamming against those rocks

and when it lands
will my eyes
be closed or open?

i'll go through all this
before you wake up
so i can feel happier
to be safe up here with you

I love her description of this song.

It's definitely one of many highlights in her career. Absolutely soaring melody, gorgeous strings, beautiful sentiment. I never tire of this song. And it's got possibly the greatest set of remixes I can think of by anyone. Check out the Brodsky Quartet version, Subtle Abuse and Fluke remixes for just a few of the radical reworkings of this great song. I think it usually gets voted as the greatest Bjork song by fans too.

great song! I love it. Lately I've been listening to a lot of
"Post" while driving. And this song, couple with the gorgeous
"Possibly Maybe" are two of the highlights for me.

My fav Björk song for quite some time now's been Scatterheart
since it sounds like a machine interpreting a novel, getting
the essence of it right, but fucking up the pictures lol.

This is easily my favorite Björk song ever. Love the lyrics, but they make me sad for some reason.

They are sad. But hopeful too.

So I've got a question for y'all. Could Bjork be the greatest remix artist ever?

She absolutely is. Headphones is the most important song for me for emotional reasons but Hyperballad, Isobel and Possibly/Maybe are sublime.
