How do you store your cd's????

My cd collection is growing out of control and I am trying to find out if anyone can suggest some good ideas for storing cd's. My cd collection has spiraled out of control to around approx 700 cd's...that's a guess. I currently keep them in 2 seperate underbed plastic storage containers. I think this is pretty good because it keeps them from occupying space since they are underneath my bed. However I know there has to be a better solution. I'm trying to find a durable storage solution that will allow me to store them under my bed but not have all the cd's end up getting pushed around within the container. I don't know if that made any sense but maybe you guys could offer some good suggestions anyways. Thanks!

The hard copies I keep mostly in wooden crates on shelves sorted by artist.

CD projects I've made I keep in these 2 and 4 disc cases I've ordered off of Ebay.

And CD-R's that I've made and that others have given me I keep in these big 300+ holding CD books.

with most of my CDs, i remove the CDs and liner booklets and store 'em alphabetically in binders. i have tons of CDs, and they all take up one measly little shelf in my apartment because they're all in binders.

now, my collectible stuff - box sets, reissues with fancy packaging, limited edition stuff, etc. - i don't dismantle. i have about a drawerful of those kinds of discs, which i'm trying to move into some kind of different storage so i can use the drawer for silly things like, oh, i don't know, socks or towels or something. lol

yeah, it's not a 100 percent spacesaving solution, but the binders have saved me an incredible amount of space, and the special packaging stuff really doesn't take up that much room...and i live in a studio apartment, so i need all the room i can get!

i used binders for like, 4 months once... and it was out of control to keep them in any kind of order, and a real pain in da ass with no liner notes when i wanted to research something.

what do you do when you buy like 15 cds a month?

just add em to the back of the binder? seriously what about the liner notes?

2-3 years ago I had a similar problem.
I sold about 200 CDs on Amazon marketplace that I'd had for years but didn't really need.
There were a few collectors' items in there and I made a fair bit of money!

Thing is, you have to be ruthless. Ask yourself how many of those CDs do you really, really need?

Some of my CDs I hadn't actually listened to for ages but just kept clinging on to them.
Some only had one or two songs on them that I liked. I ripped mp3s of these before selling them, so I didn't lose the music and gained the space the physical discs were taking up.

My CD collection is also spiraling out of control, lol. It's insane lol

I have several of those wooden CD cabinets that GangstaFam posted a pic of,but I really wish there was an easier way to store all of these CDs,box sets, special editions, etc.I don't even have room for a dresser, because there are too many CD cabinets taking up space!

I already have one of these filled with all my crates -

And those are just my favorites. What doesn't fit I store under my bed and I'm running out of room there too.

Plus, I've got a couple of big tubs for all of my old vinyl and cassettes. Help!

That looks like my bookcase with cd's.

I keep them alphabetical on artist.
If I have more than one album by the same artist, I categorise the albums on date of release.

Nice to see so many of you share my pain....and my cd buying disease!!!! If I don't find a better solution I'm just gonna have to get rid of some of my stuff. I don't know why but it bothers me to have that much stuff!!!! It's like having too much clutter.

me too. i used to have CDs in a rack, with jewel cases and booklets intact. but now i have almost all my CDs in binders, xcept the collectible things, just like anxiety says. those are locked up in a "vault". my son (10 months old) is learning to walk, and he used to enjoy pulling my CDs off the shelf till they all came tumbling down on top of one another. (ouch! son, i love you, but leave that original madhouse CD alone! )

eek I wanna have that many CD´s .

Anyways I keep mine in a beautiful stand in shape of the letter "S" that I totally fell in love with and dragged it over to Czech republic all the way from England. But it was worth it. I love it.

This is like my apartment, but my CD shelves can hold 1500 discs. DVDs/videos are on a seperate unit and audio cassettes gets a mini one. My thousands of records are stored mostly in the second bedroom along with my 30 boxes of comic books. Having a second bedroom to throw all my junk in helps a lot. That's my suggestion. lol

I've bought these durable but cheap wooden shelves but they look it. That's just for the vinyl but the cd's are boxed because it's all on my hard drive. That is except for the new ones which are everywhere.

I think it would be cool to make something that held dvds, vinyl and cds but built for it. I've been toying with this idea for a while, I think it's time to act.

Well, I keep the physical cases on my bookcase, and all the actual discs in those humungo-CD binders you get from Target (I travel a lot, so this worked best for me).

Currently, I upload all of my albums to my hard drive (I'm dangerously low of memory now -- need to start burning my files to CD-R).

I used to have problems with my CDs and imports getting 10,000 scratches on them from constant play, but since the rise of MP3 players, I just upload the album one time on my comp and rarely touch the CD again.

That's what I'm thinking too - doing something custom.
