Well, I adore her.
I judge my celebrities based on their behavior when they get PUNKED.
She comported herself like such a lady.

But for real, Ciara can sing and dance, but nowadays if you wanna be a star, I guess you just gotta follow the trend and get in where your fit it, and cater to those who buy your shit. A lot of great singers cant play instruments or produce, so we cant hold that against her either. She's got some decent songs on her album but her released singles are made for dancing and dont really allow her to use her voice to the fullest extent. She has enough popularity so maybe she'll showcase better on her next album.

Ok, let's look at the singing part first. Now, Ciara doesn't really sing, she talks. Whether it's if you want the goodies the goodies stay in da jar! in her breathy Monroe imitation or so hypnotic ultrasonic blah blah blah let me see you 1-2-step where she just sounds totally bored in the studio. And I mean basically all the songs on the record are like that. From what I hear, half the chicks in the world can "sing" as "well" as she can.

To be realistic, all of the other songs on her albums dont sound like the singles, there some slow jams that on it. As far as her not really singing on her songs that are singles, thats what I was talkin about in my last post.

She really does have a good voice (you dont wanna listen to her album, you can hear a little bit of it "Oh" when she's ad-libin'), but she just aint showcasing it cause she mostly rap-sings.

I loved how she kept saying crap, instead of the other.
I thought she was adorable.

I've listened to the entire record, and if she's truly hiding her vocal talent, she's doing a damn good job of it. She can't even sing live worth shit so shrug

anyone notice in the Missy video... when they're all dancing in a line on the highway.... she's the tallest person there? even taller than all the guys? and hunched over at that?

I noticed she does dance like Quasimodo at times...that's why I didn't get the hype about her dancing. And I don't think her height has anything to do with the "man" rumors.

Listening to garbage like Ciara is imature IMO, not my comments. BTW I'm only 26 so I'm not old and bitter and I don't care who cares that's my opinion on her and her music. Yeah I directed that comment at the Kids because they are the only ones I know who would listen to Ciara and actually think that was good music. THEY NEED TO GET SOME FUNK IN THEIR LIVES!!!!!

Damn, how bad has it gotten in music to where we now base our affinity for an artist off their appearance on Punk'D?

I don't mind "1-2 step" (minimalist as it is) and Ciara has a certain charm reminiscent of Aaliyah in a way that is more believable than Ashanti. however it IS true that a lot of kids today only know r&b and hip hop through what's current and on the charts...I can understand the need for something current, but only buying stuff that's on the charts is not going to give you a well-rounded appreciation of music. which i think is the gist of what a lot of us 20-somethings have a problem with about today's charts...it's more about fashion and visuals than music. video killed the radio star....all that.

none of this is really directed at you by the way, PleasurePrinciple.

I'm sorry I just can't see what the interest is in a weak voiced half talent Janet Jackson wannabe who's songs all sound the same, with you only being 15 I wouldn't expect you to understand where I'm coming from. Like you said you have "SOME" funk in your life being a Prince fan and that's a good thing, the further you dig into the funk the less you'll like talentless studio creation acts like Ciara.

well, to get technical, music does not need to contain any live instruments at all to be music. it doesn't even really need to have any sounds in it at all if you want to get academic (see John Cage's "4:33"). however, what most people LIKE requires some form of human input and there is less and less of that in today's pop world. like ani di franco once sang:

"People used to make records
As in a record of event
The event of people
Playing music in a room
Now everything is cross-marketing
It's about sunglasses and shoes
Or guns or drugs
You choose

We got it rehashed
We got it half-assed
We're digging up all the graves
And we're spitting on the past
And we can choose between the colors
Of the lipstick on the whores
Cuz we know difference
Between the font of twenty percent more
And the font of teriyaki
You tell me
How does it make you feel?
You tell me what's real"
