He is a great example of why music today sucks. -- True, I understand that he is trying to get away from the Bling Bling but, would it hurt to use a band. To come up with something orignal.

here we go again with the rap needs a band mess i love kanye's cd as well as work he has done with other artists. however i do think he is making people think that "diamonds" is a little more serious than it actually is. he does have a remix that addresses the issues brought out in the video. i can't wait for his new cd to come out.

By the way, I call his music God rap! Could this be a new genre? Although Hammer was doing that 15 years ago.. Nope. "God rap" has been around for almost as long as "secular" rap. I used to listen to quite a bit around the early '90s -- SFC (Soldiers for Christ), Gospel Gangstas, Lakita, The Cross Movement, etc. DC TALK!!! "Awards are like hemorrhoids. thats a POWERFUL song..period. and thousands of people (especially hoodfolk) can relate to it. how in the hell is it about kanye? mediocre at best... his voice is annoying.....and his production very simplisitic....Common's CD would be much much better without West's contributions...PERIOD! I dunno sos. I think Kanye did a great job on the common LP. although I would have enjoyed more from Jay Dee. He definately saved some of his best for common. I think Jay-Z might've been jealous about a few of the beats. "Thinking like the Keys on Prince's piano, we'll be just fine"

OK, it seems that he has his defenders and detractors, and he does have some talent for being a showboat, but what else do you expect from a rapper/MC? I'll give his next CD a chance to impress me only if he stays away from the sped up samples that made College Dropout a hit, he has to try something different this time or he will be dismissed as a one hit wonder.
Let's tell the truth, he's not the best lyricist out but he can carry his own album without a ton of guest rappers on every other track ( ala Lil' Jon, who by the way doesn't rap at all ) . As long as a critique of his music is not some thinly veiled personal attack, it should be allowed to be posted along with the praise. Jeux Sans Frontiers
