Sharks (biters) - Rappers who sound (or act) like other rappers

Back in the day being a biter was the worst thing you could do in hip hop. If you bit someones style you could never be respected as a real emcee. Nowadays biting is epidemic. THe thing is now biting seems to be welcomed. there are so many rappers who sound like or steal others styles. Now biting a style is different from being a influenced or the moderen day version of another group. For example I dont think Dead Prez has biten Public enemy they are simply carrying the torch for politcally charged hip hop. But rappers like Angelous or gurilla Black who sound (and at time look) Identical to Jay-Z or B.I.G respectively are taking biting a little too far. Jay - Z himself has made is career biting many rappers especially B.I.G by stealing lines, and the whole King of New York Persona. For Example many of Jay-Z 's hit have biten lines from B.I.G "When the remy's in the system....." sticks out in my mind.
He's even biten his rival Nas on occasion. Even when it comes to image and persona other rappers are guilty. DMX, 50 cent, and even Ja Rule have tried at times to relive the Thug Life image of Tupac. Even on a lesser scale some rappers bite rappers who are not know for being thugs or hardcore lyrics. How many people thought that Fabolous sounded too much like Mase when they first heard him. J-Kwon who sound like chingy who sounds like Nelly? Remember when Deathrow came back around in 2000 with the chronic 2000? they had all these clones of their former artist that clown topp dogg who sounded just like snoop, and a host of other characters that sounded like other old artists.
There really needs to be a change in hip hop like RUn DMC in the 80's or like Nirvana did to hair metal. Biting is way too epidemic.

You´re on point with J-Known and Nelly and Chingy and those Deathrow guys, but I don´t see Jigga biting Nas´ or Biggie´s style.
I mean all three of them sound totally different and have a unique flow, so maybe he bit some lines about the Remy being in the system but then again, maybe that ´s just a very often used phrase anyway.
I don´t know those other two you mentioned, Angelous or whatever.
Another thing: Do you think it´s true that JayZ never wrote down a single lyric on paper, that he memorized all his rhymes ? That´s nearly impossible. What ´s your opinion on that ?

(except for carmen electra ironically, prince promoting a white FEMALE rapper in hindsight was suiside, but thats why we love prince. razz

Anybody remember Justin "Season of the Vic" Warfield? Sounded just like Q-Tip.

When Ja Rule dropped on Jay-Z's "Can I Get A . . ." he looked and sounded just like 'Pac.

Jay never bit Biggie or nas? True Jay has his own style and thats one thing but biting lyrics is another. Here are a few examples:

B.I.G: The World is Filled...

When the Remi's in the system, ain't no tellin
Will I fuck em will I diss em, that's what these hoes yellin
I'm a pimp by blood, not relation
Y'all still chase on, I'll replace on, punks

Jay-Z: I Just Wanna Love YOu

When the Remi's in the system, ain't no tellin
Will I fuck 'em will I diss 'em, that's what they be yellin
I'm a pimp by blood, not relation
Y'all be chasin, I replace them, huh?

B.I.G : Still Can't Stop the Reign

A lime to a lemon, my D.C. women
bringin in ten G minimums to condos with elevators in em
Vehicles with televisions in em

Jay-Z: F%^& All Nite

Yes.. a lime to a lemon, my V-A women
walk in Manolo Blahniks cause my condo with elevators in 'em

B.I.G : Hypnotize
Gon' blast squeeze first ask questions last
That's how most of these so-called gangsters pass

Jay-Z: Squeeze
"That`s why I, squeeze first ask questions last,
thats how most of these so called gangsters pass,"

B.I.G: "Kick in the door"

"Your reign on top was short like leprechauns"

Jay-Z "The ruler`s back"

"Your reign on top was shorter than leprechauns"

B.I.G: "Big Poppa"

"I see some ladies tonight, that should be having my baby.....baby"

Jay-Z "Excuse Me Miss"

"I see some ladies tonight, that should be rolling wit Jay-Z.....Jay-Z,"

B.I.G: Be Happy w/ R.Kelly
Think about it while in the streets you roam
It's Dom P's and Chris'ties in the fridge when you get home

Jay-Z: Breakup w/ R. Kelly
Think about it while the streets you roam
It's Dom P and Army in the fridge when you get home

B.I.G: Keep your hands high w/ tracey lee
What, what, what, the rings and things you speak about
bring em out, it's hard to yell with my barrell in your mouth

Jay-Z: What more can i say
So them rings and things you sing about, bring 'em out
It's hard to yell when the bar-rell's in your mouth

B.I.G: Kick in the Door
Ain't no other king in this rap thing
They siblings, nothing but my chil'ren
One shot, they disappearin

Jay-Z: Title Escapes me
Aint no other kings in this rap thing, ya kiddin nothing but my chil'ren
One shot, they disappearin

Biggie - "Who Shot Ya"
"Thou shalt not fukk with or see Poppa
Feel a thosand deaths...

Jay-Z - "Squeeze 1st"
"thou shalt not fukk with raw me, or he
Face a thousand deaths...

Biggie - "Unbelievable"
"Get ready to die, tell God I said hi
And throw down some ice, for the nicest MC"

Jay-Z - "Friend or Foe 98"
"Do me a favor dude, get 2 ice cubes I pass them
Take that ice up, for the nicest MC"

Biggie - "One More Chance"
"isn't this great, my flight leaves at eight
her flight lands at nine, my game just rewinds"

Jay-Z - "Girls...Remix"
"isn't this great, my flight leaves at eight
her flight lands at nine, my game just rewinds

Biggie - "Who Shot Ya"
"Old school new school need to learn though
I burn baby burn like Disco Inferno"

Jay-Z - "Frestyle"
"Old school, new school need to know this
I burn like Left Eye Lisa Lopez"

And thats not even every instance he has bitten B.I.G:
He's also Bitten nas a few times like:

Nas - "The World is Yours"
"Seude timbs on my feet makes my cypher complete"

Jay-Z - "What More Can I Say"
"S.dots on my feet makes my cypher complete

Nas - "Verbal Intercourse"
"From the womb to the tomb, presume the unpredictable
Guns salute life, rapidly, that's the ritual"

Jay - "Never change"
"From the womb to the tomb, from now until my doom
Drink army from one cup pass it around the room,
That's the ritual"

Even 2pac on occasion:
2pac - "Against All Oddz"
Payback, I knew U b*tch nggaz from way back. witnessed me strapped with Macs, knew i wouldn't play that,"

Jigga - "Some People Hate"
Nigga This the Payback, I know U b*tch nggaz from way back. Niggaz wanna clown but the pound it don't play that,"

2pac - "Against All Odds"
"This is payback, i knew you b*tch niggaz from way back"

Jay-z - "Blueprint 2"
"This is payback, i knew you b*tch niggaz from way back"

Now I am a Jay z fan but I've always thought his biting left much to be desired. I do think he benifited from Biggies death, If Biggie never died Jay would be 0vershadowed. Can you imagine what Biggies skills could have sounded like in the 2k? Too Ill to even imagine.

True indeed!!!!

Pac and Biggie would have been the Prince and MJ of the 00's had they survived. As talented as they may be in their own right, Jay-Z, Nas, Snoop, etc. wouldn't have stood a chance. Much less the Fitty's and Ja's and Games of the world.

But "Dead Presidents" and "Allure" are masterpieces on Jigga's part.

thanks Soulchild 82...I didn´t know that it´s so obvious.
Man, he´s biting so hard it must be because he thinks he´s paying hommage to those cats. lol

But what about Jigga memorizing all his rhymes without ever having to write them down..he said it several times...do you believe him ?

It tough too say. B.I.G said the same thing. In an an interview DJ Primier said that he's only seen biggie with written lyrics once on "Unbelievable". Its possible 4 jay i guess. but i think its part of his biggie biting, Ol dirty bastard did the same thing.

DMX was on before Ja RUle. If you see some old DMX videos like "how's It going down" you can see some ja rule cameos.

Anyone remember Mase' homeboy cardan sounded like Mase himself. and that kid Ali Vegas? made those records sounding like different emcees.

But this kid Angelous is ridiculous. He sounds identical to jay-Z I mean as much as Guerilla Black and Biggie sound alike.

check this link above click artist then angelous then audio.
