WTF was that? Her voice is completely fucked. And you might want to change that final note, Mariah, because no one buys that it's live. Pathetic beyond words.

She was off tonight, don't know about all the hate and been pathetic. she had a bad night, she couldn't get her breathing right on the verses. I don't know why she looked so nervous? do u think she knew she wasn't going to be 100% .

To me, it sounds like she is developing vocal chord nodules coz it's just not the "high" notes or "belt" quality: she sounds really raspy in the lower range as well. Mariah is really struggling vocally, and I don't know the cause exactly. It could be that she has chronic allergy problems. Or maybe she smokes, and that is affecting her voice??? Mariah did the best that she could last night,but "the voice" just wasn't there. I felt really bad for her. I remember just a few years ago when her voice was clear, and she didn't even need a back-up track. She could hit both high and low notes with ease, and "belt" without much effort. There is something definitely wrong now, and it's sad for me to see.

I actually think Mariah's voice has sounded better on this project than it has on the last 3 or so. Thus the whole slogan 'The Voice is Back' but this performance was disappointing. She sounded great on GMA and on some other show I saw her on but it definitely doesn't help that it's a tough song to sing. She should have her back up really overlap with her on it if she insists on performing it live. She'll probably never disclose her vocal situation whatever it is.

Actually, I hate all the songs where they're rushing through the lyrics including Cater 2 U and even What The Fuss? is a struggle because Stevie refuses to enunciate. WTF are they all saying?

I watched that clip. I didn't think her voice was horrible. It definitely was not a good display of what she is (or once was) capable of doing. Yeah, the lip synch at the end was obvious, but she didn't sound as wrecked as she has at other times.Overall, I thought the performance was cornball. Mariah has zero stage presence, and I wish she would drop that fluttering hand motion once and for all. And she is once again channeling her fashion icon, Jessica Rabbit.

Clips like this make me miss my Luther.

Mariah was apparntly diagnosed with nodules in 2000, she has had not had the surgery because she's afraid she'll end up like Julie Andrews

Yeah, I heard about Julie Andrews. I think Julie Andrews actually sued the surgeon. But the problem is that if Mariah has nodules, her voice is gonna be compromised WITHOUT surgery,too, particularly with her style of singing. She can have surgery, but she has to go through a long-healing process, plus retrain herself to sing with better breathing and vocal techniques to protect her voice. Those nodules can come back again, or her voice can be damaged if she tries to "push it" too soon after the surgery. The recovery process can be long, but it might be worth it.

why did they have such an elaborate set for her to just stand there and warble? she sounded horrible at the end. it was like listening to whitney try and sing "I will always love you" now...you hope for the best, expect the worst and get something in the middle
