Great info. Thanks! Is there a television broadcast set for the USA? At least according to the Live 8 Web site, there isn't as of yet.

Well so far MTV and VH1 will carry coverage from 12-8 on Saturday. ABC will show a Highlights show from 8-10PM. Its not bad coverage, but im just worried what is going to be shown and not shown. Obviously nothing can compare to LIVE AID so if u think this will, then u will be disappointed BIG TIME. Mainly because of the way Networks function now, Im sure they will not be giving up too much air time to artists that arent RATINGS guarantees.

I agree that the USA list is SAD. Not because of the performers which are sad too, but the amount of performers clearly shows me that this event seems like the USA wanted nothing to do with this event. At least LIVE AID the USA had a full show, this Lineup looks like it could be done in two hours. Everywhere else there are acts I want to see but Im sure they wont get air time. Mainly DURAN and AHA, AHA is going to kill with their set list, already know it (!) But obviously ENGLAND has the most to offer, However unlike 1985 when i was glued to the TV from 6am-11pm, I will be Recording this and then Fast Fowarding through all the Crap, Im sure MTV is gonna have Sway and that Gideon character play like they know whats going on, but I am surprised MTV is devoting all this time to actual music, usually they are devoting it to REAL WORLD 23 or something like that.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I'm pissed that Jamiroquai pulled out of this show mad

but I can't wait to see Madonna,Joss Stone and Stevie Wonder.Wasn't Lauryn Hill supposed to perform as well?

What the hell is P.Diddy gonna do? Bring a sampling machine up onstage with him,and ruin yet another classic 80s hit?

Bob Geldof pulled out because he said his record sales can't justify his space on the lineup. Good for him, he's done enough by organizning the event anyways.

Madonna on before Mariah ? I didn't think they would put them so close to each other, maybe they will segue with a Duet? biggrin , probably not but it would be cool.Mariah and George Michael are going to a duet of one of his old songs as part of her set!

Yes a Mariah and Madonna duet would be cool. Maybe a fun dance song they could sing together as Mariah would upstage Madonna if it was a ballad duet smile

Canada has trash coverage. Maybe my Canadian brothers and sisters can help, as the channel here with the rights to Live 8 is airing bits and peices of the worldwide coverage, but they have full coverage of the shitty Canadian acts.

Oh yeah! confused
Still it would be cool to see these artists put there ego's behind them and do something like unlikely duets. Mariah and Madonna, Paul Mc Cartney and MJ, Robbie Williams and Oasis, actually Oasis with anyone would be shocking. How about Elton and Madonna?

I think Elton and Madonna already did a duet of "Twist and Shout" at the rainforest benefit in 1998.

Nope, they are still together. She is NOT playing Live 8 however (at least according to this):

Crow will not perform at Paris Live 8 concert

Singer Sheryl Crow will not now appear at the Paris Live 8 concert on Saturday.

A statement posted on her website said: "Due to substantial logistical and personal challenges Sheryl will be unable to appear at the Paris Live 8 event July 2."

"Although Sheryl cannot be there personally she is supporting the outstanding cause to awaken the G8 leaders to the fact that they have the power to end extreme poverty by applying a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair," the statement said.

Crow was expected to play at the Live 8 concert in Paris, before joining her boyfriend cyclist Lance Armstrong, who is competing in the Tour De France.

The statement posted on the singer's website also said: "Please don't let Sheryl's absence in Paris dampen your enthusiasm for the cause."

I know this is a musical event, so I would expect MTV and VH1 to carry at least most of this, but since Live 8 is supposed to be a concert to bring awareness to the G8 summit, this should be covered from dawn to dusk on C-SPAN and C-SPAN2. Not only would they be able to show the full concerts from all of the venues, but they would be able to do it commercial free and without obnoxius VJ's interrupting the coverage.
