Their music lacks guts and even when they rocked it seemed like good boys playing with instruments they should really leave alone. Theres some great pop songs but thats all as far as im concerned. No resonance at all. I don't think Fleetwood Mac were ever consistent enough to be a truly world beating band but i much prefer them to Lennon and Co.
Umm...ever heard Helter Skelter? How about Revolution? Tomorrow Never Knows? A Day in The Life? I Am The Walrus? Come Together? The whole 2nd side of Abbey Road? Lacked guts?? They experimented more than anyone at the time and they made (most of) it work. As for rocking out...they could when they wanted to. Again, this isn't a slant against Fleetwood Mac, its just the Beatles are timeless and if you really focus on what they accompished in a mere 8 years you'll see what all the fuss is about (musically, culterally, and their influence on generations).

Hands down...THE BEATLES. Fleetwood Mac are a great group but their albums get monotonous after many listens. Whereas the range of music on Beatles albums ensures the listener never gets bored. Has F.M ever done an album as diverse as "Revolver". Answers on a postcard

How do you compare when: The Beatles are 4 guys & Fleetwod Mac is 3 guys & 2 women The Beatles are from the 60's & Fleetwood Mac is from the 70's The Beatles are all Brits & Fleetwood Mac is Brits & Americans Exactly. I love Fleetwood Mac - they were a major presence in the 70s music scene - but the Beatles are a classic ground-breaking force in rock music. THE BEATLES VOTE....EARLY

Their music is still gutless to me. My brother was listening to the White Album today and he's a huge fan and he said"The Beatles were capable of recording some right fucking shit as well as genius". I just find their music spineless. I know all about their legacy but it means nothing to me. I find most of their music emotionless.
