Sinead's "Collaborations" Album I just gotta say it...I'm listening to this new collection of Sinead tracks, and it's the first time I've HAD FUN listening to one of her albums since the first time I threw "Am I Not Your Girl?" into my boombox all those years ago.
I know there are fans out there of "Faith and Courage" and "Universal Mother" and everything that came after, and I know this is small-minded of me, but the Sinead of new-age Celtic 12-step affirmations is not "my" girl. I mean, God bless and good for her for doing the music she's wanted to do, but that doesn't dictate my enjoyment of it. This collection takes me back to what I love about her - great, melodic, funky, aggressive, experimental pop music with collaborators who know how to make her sound damn good. Nice. Pick this one up. It's the shit.

Do you really think tracks like "Daddy I'm Fine", "No Man's Woman" and "The State I'm In" fall into this category? I personally believe some of the Faith and Courage tracks (specially Daddy...) are the PERFECT blending of the matured Sinead with the anger of her youth.

I personally believe some of the Faith and Courage tracks (specially Daddy...) are the PERFECT blending of the matured Sinead with the anger of her youth. there are a handful of tracks from her post-pop days that i enjoy, but for the most part i feel like she went to a private happy place into which i wasn't too keen on following her. i don't think it was the anger that i missed as much as the melody and rhythm of her first couple of albums. and i LOVED her big band stuff, not just on "am i not your girl?" but also on the red hot + blue album and her contribution to the red hot organization's gershwin CD. i guess i'm happier with her when she's going off in jazz/hip-hop directions than i am when she's getting all boho-folksy. not that there's anything wrong with that.

well i'm a huge fan of "am i not your girl?" and "universal mother". but for the most part, love everything else she's done. so i'll definitely habve to get this one. if i don't like it, i'll be expecting a refund from you.
found this review: Description: A brand new album dedicated to the unique collaborative work of Sinead O’Connor. The songs assembled here are by no means a definitive guide to Sinead's extra-curricular activities. But, in gathering together some of her most moving collaborations, this album reiterates O'Connor's restless spirit. In juxtaposing the trip-hop of Massive Attack, the widescreen rock of U2, the folk-pop of Damien Dempsey and the world-beat of Jah Wobble and Peter Gabriel, it also offers a potted history of Anglo-Irish rock and dance over the past two decades. Track Listing: 1. Massive Attack Featuring Sinead O'connor - Special Cases (Radio Edit) 2. Asian Dub Foundation Featuring Sinead O'connor - 1000 Mirrors 3. Bomb The Bass Featuring Sinead O'connor & Benjamin Zep - Empire 4. Sinead O'connor & Ghostland - Guide Me God 5. Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart Featuring Sinead O'connor - Visions Of You 6. Sinead O'connor With Afro Celt Sound System - Release (Album Edit) 7. Sinead O'connor With The Blockheads - Wake Up & Make Love With Me 8. Sinead O'connor With The The - Kingdom Of Rain (Album Version) 9. U2 & Sinead O'connor - I’m Not Your Baby 10. Conjure One Featuring Sinead O'connor - Tears From The Moon (Album Version) 11. Peter Gabriel & Sinead O'connor - Blood Of Eden (Radio Edit) 12. Moby Featuring Sinead O'connor - Harbour 13. Sinead O'connor With Aslan - Up In Arms 14. Damien Dempsey Featuring Sinead O'connor - It’s All Good 15. The Edge & Sinead O'connor - Heroine (Theme From "Captive") 16. The Colourfield Featuring Sinead O'connor - Monkey In Winter 17. Sinead O'connor & Terry Hall - All Kinds Of Everything sanity

Every Sinead album I have, I love. I'll be getting this one in the next few days. I did love Faith and Courage. It had everything I love in a Sinead album - angst, moving lyrics, beautiful song construction and, of course, her amazing voice. I'm excited to hear this one.

Is this out yet in the states?
btw I think "Faith & Courage" is as good as "Lion & Cobra" & "I Do Not Want..." & better than the rest. [Edited 6/22/05 10:39am] Check this song out at:

[Edited 6/22/05 10:39am] yeah, it came out this week. i should probably give 'faith & courage' another try...it's just really hard for me to like any sinead album as much as i like her first three - though this new compiliation has been really getting me back into her music again.

remember the re-mix of "Put Your Hands On Me" with MC Lyte? I loved that one. I had tickets to her first U.S. concert and she cancelled it! Which albums should I get if I only have her first two? I heard there were some other good ones but you never know.

I love that remix and was hoping it would end up on this compilation. It didn't Re: which album to get next - some will say Am I Not Your Girl, others will say Faith and Courage. Personally, I'd go with the latter.
