James Brown Speaks Out For MJ

-----

James Brown has spoken of his delight at the verdict in the Michael Jackson child abuse trial, backing the troubled superstar to make a triumphant return to the world of pop.

The Godfather Of Soul tours the UK in June and July, just six months after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer, including appearances at both T In The Park and the Oxygen festival.

Speaking about the King of Pop, Brown said he was "very glad" Jackson was cleared of all ten charges relating to the accusations of Gavin Arvizo, although he mae no direct comment on the case.

He told XFM: "Well, I'm very happy because of the fact that the world needs Michael and a lot of people would really love to see him play.

"He always creates such excitement and it's good to have that gentleman there for the people, so they can hear him and enjoy themselves. I'm very glad Michael is out."

Meanwhile, Brown has promised a full-on live show to the UK audience, at the age of 72. "What you can expect is a lot of heart, music, good funk and an even more dynamic show than before," he said.

"We're really gonna get a load of dynamics and perform some miraculous things on stage. I just want everyone to love each other and have a lot of fun and when I get there we'll have a great celebration...of funk."

That's a joke of a reply. First off, i was showing support for MJ in that sick joke of a trial, not spewing cultish devotion. Second, My fanship of MJ amounts to buying his CD's and a few concert tix and that's it.

My posts recently were focused on the trial and not much else. I enjoyed posting on the Trial threads, I appreciated the stickies. So i'll thank the mods for that. We were all invited.

Pity sosgemini for attacking some of us for bothering to reply though.

clapping Good Question Stymie. The world is no different than it was on June 12th.

Also i was watching Inside Edition or Extra or one of those called info shows, and the Older lady who winked at the camera after her "dont snap at me." comment, which by the way made just too GOOD of a sound byte. But the woman basically said that Mj was guilty, of something, but there just wasnt enough information given to them by the Prosecution.

So I have to say that not guilty doesnt mean innocent.

Very true....I have to say that a lot of MJ fans on this site (I myself was riding with MJ from Destiny to Thriller, with a little bit of "Remember The Time" thrown in) have got things twisted. As stated several times, the reason why MJ was found not guilty was because Prosecutors had a hard-on for dude and weren't thinking rationally...They brought in a flawed case when they introduced the conspircy charges...Now in our heart of hearts we all know something unlawfully took place...But unlike a lot of cats, I want to see the man get some serious help...Jail won't help him...He needs some mental help...And can people stop saying that the man will never match Thriller?...Of course he won't because the days of having that type of mammoth success is dead and gone...Different time, different era....

Maybe the past years of press coverage on MJ have brainwashed you? I would only listen to the opinion of an expert in child abuse before making statements like that. You could get sued.

A Personal Message from La Toya Jackson

I would like to give all of you heartfelt thanks for your continued voices of encouragement and for your amazing support of Michael during the trying days that now, thankfully, lie behind us. Thank you so very much!

It has meant a great deal to me, to Michael and to our whole family.
It is truly wonderful to have such amazing and loyal fans!

This is a very big victory for Michael and we are all very proud that he has been completely and totally vindicated in court, as we were certain he would be.

I am pleased to tell you that he is finally getting some rest and is regaining his appetite as well.

The end of the trial and the 'not guilty' verdicts on all counts, clearing Michael of all charges, mean that he can now concentrate on the future and
his art.
He will be beginning a brand new chapter in the Michael Jackson LEGEND.

This means that I am not the only person 'Startin' Over' -
Michael is now STARTING OVER as well.

As a matter of fact, this will be a brand new beginning for all of us.

Thank you!

Lots of Love,

La Toya Jackson

Editorial: Paying for the Michael Jackson Trial
June 24, 2005

POSTED: 10:06 am PDT June 24, 2005

The dust has settled, the verdict is in, and our KSBW Editorial Board thought we could make it through the entire Michael Jackson mess without having to offer up an editorial. Well, we made it through the trial, but in the wake of Michael Jackson's acquittal, there is an issue we just can't overlook.

It's the question of paying for costs associated with the trial. It appears that the cost of prosecuting Jackson will fall squarely in the lap of Santa Barbara taxpayers. But there are additional costs: the costs for handling all the security and public safety around the courthouse. Our Central Coast state Sen. Abel Maldonado wants YOU to help pay for it.

That's right, the wacky, meandering lines of the 15th State Senatorial District don't just include a large portion of the Central Coast; they extend all the way down to Santa Barbara County. And in his zeal to win favor with voters there, Maldonado has introduced a bill, which calls for the state of California to pick up the tab on many expenses related to the Michael Jackson trial.

We don't see why we should have to do that. Throughout the trial, Jackson's defenders accused Santa Barbara's District Attorney of having a personal vendetta against Jackson. While the D.A. continues to deny that, we do know Santa Barbara has run three investigations, two prosecutions, and has come away with ZERO convictions against Jackson. We don't know how much money Jackson has been forced to spend to defend himself, but we feel certain it's safe to say it's a small fortune; and agree with the verdict or not, Jackson is, in the eyes of the law, an innocent man. Seems to us that if anyone could argue for reimbursement, Jackson is more deserving than Santa Barbara County.

Make no mistake: this is not to say the state should require a conviction if it is to assist counties with the cost of a complicated and high-profile prosecution. But in this case, Santa Barbara County and D.A. Tom Sneddon have chased this one around the barn, not once, but twice. We don't want to pay for it! Sen. Maldonado, we hope you will withdraw this bill. It has nothing to do with justice; in fact, we see it as taxpayer injustice.

you're just not objective when it comes down to MJ or his fans or MJ threads in general. Imploring us to get him mental help, whether you're taking the piss or not it's not right or funny.

I'm not one for starting MJ threads myself, but if i wanted to say, start one about his music (imagine that!) i kind of get the feeling you'd show up virtually trolling away, posting your counselling recommendations. That's not fair and not right.

I'd get a ban for what i'd really like to say. (and i'm not alone, orgnotes in the last ten minutes to me would confirm that)

In exchange for a nutty i'll raise you a finger

NOT GUILTY

By Bruce Britt

Posted June 14, 2005 -- I’m not even gonna front. Long before Michael Jackson’s child molestation case went to trial, I was pretty much done with the King of Pop. Ever since “Thriller” thrust him into the music major leagues, MJ’s career has been a succession of ridiculous scandals. Growing up, I admired Michael because he took so much pride in his work. It was about music then. But since “Thriller,” it’s been all about image and controversy and I’d had enough.

But then a funny thing happened on my way to Haterville.

It was the trial…

If you want an example of how to comport yourself in the midst of a legal battle, then look no further than the King of Pop. With one minor exception, Michael’s cinched the most important performance of his life.

Perhaps performance is the wrong word. It implies that Michael was acting, and I don’t believe he was. When faced with the biggest challenge of his life, Michael did what every stand up person does: he focused and stared down his internal and external demons.

I don’t believe Michael ever lied during this ordeal. Despite the 1993 scandal where he paid a family in an out-of-court settlement amidst molestation accusations, Michael confessed in 2003 that he still allowed kids to sleep in his bedroom. A year later, the singer was the defendant in a molestation trial, yet from day one he behaved commendably.

He never led police on a low-speed car chase or denials followed by an embarrassed confession. He never issued any lame excuses like, “I went to retrieve my gun from the restaurant, and when I returned to my car my wife had mysteriously been shot dead.”

Michael never fled the country, nor did he filibuster to hold up the trial. He didn’t play the race card, the God card, the victim card. From the very beginning, the fragile-looking megastar faced his accusers. Sure, he once showed up late for trial in his pajamas, but in retrospect it was a fluke.

Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Oliver North, Gary Hart, Jimmy Swaggart, Bill Clinton, OJ Simpson, George W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Kobe Bryant. The list goes on and on.

Big men. Tough guys. Presidents. “Role models.” “Leaders”…

And liars, every last one of them. That’s not to say they’re necessarily bad men, but the record shows that when the scandal hit the fan, they fudged the truth a little.

I suspect Michael’s a liar, too. I don’t believe the whole skin disease / plastic surgery thing. But you know what? Big deal. Cosmetic surgery is a personal decision. It’s none of anyone’s business. At least Michael’s “transgressions” haven’t compromised international security. To my knowledge, nobody has died for Michael’s “sins.” He never declared a war on anybody. If anything, the world declared war on him.

Some of you are reading this and thinking: “But what about the children? Michael preyed on children, didn’t he?”

Maybe. Frankly, I don’t know and you don’t either. But so far, veritable armies of police, attorneys and investigators have searched, and searched and searched. And they have found precious little.

Where were the protectors of children when Michael was being stripped of his childhood? While we’re on the subject, where were you when Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges, Dana Plato, Bobby Brown, the Olsen twins, Britney, Justin, Christina and countless other child stars were being driven mad by fame? Nothing has changed since Michael’s child star days. We continue to offer up the young for slaughter.

As for Michael’s penchant for sleeping with kids – I admit, that’s a thornier subject. Questions and doubts remain. But it helps to remember that from the age of 5, almost every adult in Michael’s life has hurt or betrayed him. Maybe Michael began to view kids as insulation from the cruel, grown-up world. Perhaps he believed that if he surrounded himself nightly with innocents, maybe he could get some sleep. Indeed, it’s revealing that Michael nicknamed his third child “Blanket.” Even an amateur psychoanalyst can see that the King of Pop desperately desires all the things we associate with blankets -- warmth, comfort, security, peace of mind.

But in light of the recent trial, Michael knows that kids can also lie, cheat and steal.

As I write this, an Olsen twin is battling an eating disorder. Christina Aguilera can’t seem to decide if she wants to be a serious singer or a rump-shaking pop tart. Lindsey Lohan’s many ill-advised moves are documented in the tabloid press.

Meanwhile, Britney Spears is married and expecting. I wish her luck. But just because you’re a domestic diva now, Britney, doesn’t mean that the media will respect your privacy.

As you will probably soon discover, there’s a cosmic reason why “press pass” rhymes with “trespass.”

Statement of Michael Jackson: A Message For My Fans

Created: Sunday, 26 June 2005

Without God, my children, my family and you, my fans, I could not have made it through. Your love, support and loyalty made it all possible.

You were there when I really needed you. I will never forget you. Your ever-present love held me, dried my tears, and carried me through.

I will treasure your devotion and support forever. You are my inspiration.

Love,

Michael Jackson

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."
