New Music Week...So what are you buying?

There are so many big (and even little) major releases coming out this week I can't even keep track of all of them. I didn't even know this was the week that "Anniemal" was coming out! So my question is what new releases you are buying and why or what do you think of them.

The White Stripes "Get Behind Me Satan". I've only listened to a few tracks on this one and as usual, it's very different from anything they've ever done. "Elephant 2" it is not. I'm not sure if I love "Blue Orchid" since it kind of sounds like something the Scicssor Sisters passed on. I don't like Jack in a flassetto. Again, like all of their albums I'll have to give it time and will need to listen to it on a much better CD player so I really don't have much to say about it.

Kelly Osbourne "Sleeping In the Nothing". After the very promising dark and moody dance number "One Word", I thought this was going to be a great album. I've listened to a lot of it and it seems to be Linda Perry's nod to new wave more than dance music (It should be Linda's album since she wrote most of the songs, with Kelly getting a few co-writing nods). It has moments with a few good pop songs like "Redlight", "Surbubia" but the shock rock rape song "Don't Touch Me While I'm Sleeping", while prehaps more Kelly's raw style, is a bit unsettling it is so blunt. This is another album that might take a while to get into.

Jodeci "Back to the Future: The Very Best Of..." I only know a few Jodeci tracks but with it's super low price, I figured I would give the album a shot. It seems like they were all about slow jams, nothing really uptempo. Again, I only listened to ten or so mintues and sampled a few songs, so I can't give a great review but what I've heard I've liked. Smooth stuff.

So what has everyone else or does everyone else plan to buy this week?

Not that I have been able to find that is accurate. lol

I just end up going to stores and buying what I want that's available. shrug

In other news, the metascore for Annie's Anniemal has jumped up to a whopping 82.

You buy anything new lately?

I'm actually tempted to get the new White Stripes. I always feel like I don't like them, but always like what I hear. I love the title and descriptions of this new one so much that I might have to check it out. All I have so far is their "White Blood Cells" album.

nod Excellent! thumbs up!

I had many of those songs from the internet in mp3 form ,though some were ripped from vynil(ahh, the free napster days) but I'm glad to have them all in cd sound and altogether is a very good collection.

This week? I only bought the U.S. edition of Annie's 'Anniemal'. I'm gonna wait awhile before picking up the new White Stripes--maybe get a bit reacquainted with the 'Elephant' CD first which I haven't listened to in some time. I saw Geri Halliwell's new album 'Passion' as an import, but it was $30! No thanks. I know I can get it cheaper somewhere else.

I had already heard the entire album as an import so it wasn't really a surprise. It's a little like Sarah Cracknell meets Kylie Minogue. Not bad at all.

i've had this album floating around in my mp3 player for a month or two now, thanks to annie's no. 1 fan. wink

i need to give it another listen...it kinda sounded like an alternatived-up version of britney/mandy moore/etc. - like the same vocal style and slickness, only with some more intelligence behind it. but i've only tried listening to it a couple times...

A friend of mine who is a big St. Etienne fan didn't like the album at all and compared it to Stacey Q. confused

Oh geez. It's not that generic. I think it's pretty good and I'm not even a big fan of that kind of music.

i'm a big fan of the band and i like the new album, but still i feel it's not as good as two previous ones. occasionally boring and hollow.
