Whodini Appreciation Thread!

I was listening to their GH CD yesterday and it's fantastic. They had so many hits.....

One love
Big Mouth
Five minutes of funk
Friends
Freaks coem out at night
I'm a hoe

Anyone else out there like these guys?

Where are they today?

One last question, is there a particular group or artist out today that has been influenced by their sound? I kind of want to say the Black Eyed Peas only because they fuse hip hop with r&b but that may be the extent of it.

Whodini were great! woot! I listen to them regularly. They were catchy and hook-laden without watering down their hip hop sound. I love all those songs you mention especially Friends, I'm a Ho and One Love. I would also add Mr Magic's Wand. Damn fun song that one is. I used to breakdance to Five Minutes of Funk when I was a kid. In fact, I have a clear memory in my head of me struggling to do the windmill to that tune. I tore that cardboard up!

You should pick up the Greatest Hits CD, it brings back so many good memories. One thing about the song five minutes of funk. I can't listen to it without thinking of Video Music Box. That was their theme song. Man, I used to love that show. Did you ever see it?

That's so cool that you still listen to them. I love old skool hip hop but I know a lot people think it's too played out now. I don't care though I still bump it!

Cool! I wish I could get one of their cd's (not a greatest hit) but i'm assuming that they're all out of print.

Any idea whatever happened to these guys? I wonder if they were still around how they'd sound now?

I think some stuff of this era (Whodini, Fat Boys) only saw vinyl and cassette.

My friend has the 1984 album on vinyl. smile

I liked them a lot when I was coming up-- surprise, surprise. Their style of rap is outdated though-- Ecstasy's voice is still good for a few laughs. Like Ripher2shreds said it's the hooks (and the beats too) that make the songs good to this day.

I've seen these guy's in concert back in the day. They were part of the Ebony Black Family Reunion tour show in Dallas Sept.'2004.

I read somewhere they're supposed to do a show with Parliament\Funkadelic on
the 17th in little Rock Arkansas.

"Oh' Yeah, Fugitive was kick ass tune too!

They were it back in the day - Funky Beat is my fave - but I seriously doubt Ecstasy could get away with the shorts, cowboy boots and hat look today...
