Nah,I want her to be edgy and adventurous. That's why I was getting excited when I heard that she would do a rock album time.

A rock album would be cool, but it might come off a little too trendy if she patterns it after current bands.

And as much as I love the last 3 albums, I kinda want her to step away from cutting edge dance/electronica.

I see what you're saying. If she did do a rock album,I would hope that it wouldn't sound like Sheryl Crow or Courtney Love...lol...I want it to edgy and unique, not your run-of-the-mill female rock album.

As for electronica,I don't think she's ready to completely abandon it yet. That's fine with me.I'd rather for her to do edgy electronica instead of formulaic,sample-heavy R&B.

I'd actually rather her do an album like Sheryl Crow or Courtney Love than some of the alternatives. Based on the rumors, it was supposed to be 'dance-rock', a la Franz Ferdinand and The Killers. I don't mind that style, but I didn't really want that from Madonna. Now if she hooked up with New Order, that'd be a different story. wink

I'm looking forward to this album.

I seem to be a one of the rare species who really enjoyed 'American life'.

I hope I can AFFORD to see her live this time. After all these years there is no way she needs to charge that much. I'm hoping for some £40-£60 basic tickets this time. I have never seen her live. I bet its an experience!

No,you don't really want her to do an album like Sheryl Crow,do you? Her music is bland and boring.I was thinking Maddy would do an album of "danceable rock"....like the remixes on 'Remixed and Revisted'....that would be cool.

I wish Maddy could hook up with JuniorSenior.Their sound is very interesting.

Thank god only one little mention of the K...

why do people always want her to say she regerts her past choices?

and i think the interview have been much better if it was just Joy Behar. I don't like interviews when they just suck up to her.

Where is Kurt Lauder? where are all the good interviewers who just give her shit and she gives it back too? why do people only suck up to her now?

Kurt Loder?? No way.... he would suck shit from Madonna's ass if she told him to..... mad

Cool.Their last album 'Move Your Feet' is superb. They have a cool, edgy electronica/rock sound that is intoxicating.Madonna should do a few songs with them, and see how it turns out.

Cant wait for new madonna stuff. I know a lot of people are hoping for a rock direction, but i think this would be wrong for her - im not averse to new directions (and i like rock music), but madonna is dance / pop, she awlays has and will be. If its true Stuart Price is one of the main collaborators, then this is great news as Im really into his work at the moment. His Thin White Duke mixes are always great, and his Jacques Lu Cont solo stuff is also excellent, retro with an eye to the current scene.

Her comments about it being a dance album are a relief because quite frankly, I cant resist madonna when she decides she wants to dance (Holiday > Into The Groove > Vogue > Music), however I pray to god it isn't some unimaginative peice of bandwaggon chasing.

Madonna always makes really good choices when it comes to producers. Nile Rodgers to Stephen Bray, to Pat Leonard, to Shep Pettibone, to William Orbit to Mirwais, none of them were that obvious (apart from Nile Rodgers), yet all provided her with a fresh backdrop to work against, and i am definitely relieved to hear Mirwais isnt the main man on the next project. Not because i hated american life, I actually loved it, but because its vital for Madonna to continually evolve her sound. The only person im ever happy to hear shes writing with is Pat Leonard, as I think he brings out the best - songwriting wise- in her, however she always needs a fresh producer to make her sound cutting edge.

MADONNA DEFYING GRAVITY WORLD TOUR 2006

(not necessarily in this order, but these are the songs I would like to hear)

Defying Gravity
another new song
Dress You Up
Borderline
Lucky Star
True Blue
new song
Cherish
Justify My Love (a hard rock version)
Like A Prayer
new song
Into The Groove
Live To Tell
Hollywood
new song
Like A Virgin
Bad Girl
Rain
Secret
Ray Of Light
new song
new song
Take A Bow
Keep It Together

I added seven songs from the upcoming 'Defying Gravity' album.I want the tour to be focused mainly on the new album, with some oldies thrown in.That's what she did with last year's tour, and it worked just fine.

Madonna will never sing Like A Virgin live... at the HMV store it was kinda spontatouns, but come on now she'll be 48 next year on tour... don't see LAV as possible. She'll probably forgo Take A Bow to prevent people from calling it a farewell tour. Also Mike Mcknight has said that Madonna likes Live to Tell but doesn't want to sing it again.

Yep, Like a Virgin is never going to be sung again by Madonna. I never heard the HMV version, but i heard she barely sang any of it and got the audiesnce to sing most of it.

And with Live to Tell, i predict it reminds her too much of Sean Penn and her failed marriage and doesn't want to sing it.

Take a Bow would be fine if people didn't take it as a retirement song and seen the song as it really is.

I don't like the idea of Keep it Together at the end either, too much like BA.

I would kill to hear these songs on the next tour. Borderline is still one of her best and most soulful melancholy songs, and i reckon it could be given a cool retro twist if played now. I reckon Bad girl is also terribly underrated. No one does melancholy like madge, and she sounds like shes about to burst into tears on this one.

Id also like to hear open your heart again, and perhaps something like Over & over. When she sang that first time it was like her mission statement, so her singing it again now would be like full circle.....i reckon she could do this pretty well now, although im sure she'd die before singing this one again.

From her later stuff id love to hear the power of goodbye, and beautiful stranger (again), and perhaps also a proper dance / disco version of mother & father. I still think this song has not been given the support it deserves. It should have been a single, and it should have been a big dance number, sadly it got lost in the confusion and controversy surrounding American Life.

All these plus long term classics (Into The Groove, Vogue, Like A Prayer, Holiday etc etc). I dont just wish for these, i expect them.

Agreed. I have that version and she sings it really well. I thought the band she played with on that SNL were excellent. Are they the house band or something, because they really let rip on that song?

if i'm not mistaken Live to Tell is not about Sean. Live to Tell is about her rape in the early days in NY.

I'm sure the feelings that it brings up are ones she would like to put behind her now that she is a mother and happily married.

I was thinking she could do a totally different version of "Like A Virgin"....like a parody or something.Remember the 'Girlie Show' version? That's what I'm thinking of.It could be really fun, ironic and tongue-in-cheek.I think there's a chance she could still perform it on tour.Remember, she once said that she would never sing "Material Girl" again, and yet it made the setlist for 'Re-invention.

Songs that should definitely be considered for the tour:

***"This Used To Be My Playground"---such a sad, tearjerker of a song.I don't think Maddy has ever performed it live.It could be performed in a medley with "Take A Bow".

***"Causing A Commotion"---a fun, lively song.I'd rather hear this song instead of something predictable like "Hoilday" or "Music".

***"Oh Father"---another emotion song that works well in a live setting

***"X-Static Process"---I was kinda disappointed that this song didn't make the 'Re-Invention' setlist. It's a gorgeous little number.I can imagine her sittting down, playing acoustic guitar for this one.

***"Everybody"---I'd rather hear this instead of the tired "Holiday".

***"Sooner Or Later"---one of the highlights of the 'Re-Invention' tour was the jazzy,lonnge-style rendition of "Deeper and Deeper".Why not expand that segment? This song would be perfect.

***"Don't Cry For Me Argentina"---an 'Evita' segment would be cool.Either this song or "You Must Be Love" could be used.
