The Sensual World is my favourite Kate song. I won't say it's the best, but it's my favourite. The song, the video - everything. As for the new album - a little bit of EVERYTHING, then? Heads Were Dancing has been my current favorite for a while now. Not too many of her fans like this one though. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

I like it a lot more than I used to. that's kinda how I was after the first listen. I didn't hate it, but at the same time I didn't love the way that I do now. It's just one of those songs that I like to pick apart...in a good way. You know, just listening to the strings one listen and then the bass the next and so on. I love the bass line in this song. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Okay, leave that one out of the equation. I just listened to it and Ugghh! I hate it. I love Hounds of Love way more than I thought I would, but I hate The Dreaming WAY more than I expected. Maybe it's a grower, but I don't even have the urge to put it on ever again. Some of the most awful sounding music I've ever heard! I reacted to it how I think most people did Medulla. Yuck!

Keep spinning it. Sorry. I know how much you probably love it. I was just like wtf is this? I couldn't even find the songs in there. I listened to Hounds of Love first and then Never For Ever. Each of them was pretty rewarding upon the first couple listens. There were songs that took awhile to sink in, but I like them as a whole. With The Dreaming, I kept expecting it to kick in or for me to find something I could latch onto, and it just didnt' happen. One of the most off-putting musical experiences I've ever had. Honestly! I appreciate how complex and fucked up it is, and I'm usually all about that. I just couldn't believe how difficult and ugly it all sounded. What's your take?

Art at its most uncompromising and all the more wonderful for it. It did take me a while to "get", tho'. Hope it finally sinks in for you.

I knew virtually nothing by her before I started buying her stuff. I've got everything but the first 2 albums and the remix/rarities/b-sides discs. What's your impression of each album? What do you like and not like? What took awhile and what do you think is best/worst? Break it down for me.

I loved the Dreaming after the first listen, but I'm drawn to slightly obscure things. "All the Love" "Night of the Swallow" and "Houdini" aren't too off the wall though, but to each his own. I recently got my brother into Kate Bush....well sorta. I recommeded the Dreaming first. Actually I told him that at the time The Dreaming was my favorite album of hers. So he just decided to start with that one and he loved it, but he too is drawn to obscure things. I think that's the only album he has by her though. I need to get him hip to more of her stuff But yeah, you're right about the Medulla comparison. I guess the Dreaming is Kate's "Medulla", but I loved Medulla after the first listen too. Well, with the exception of a song or two. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

However, on the flipside of that, Q mag recently had this to say about it: "Not her best album, but the moment when she embraced a knowing eclecticism, added a dance edge and Kate Bush still sounded like nobody on earth - apart from Tori Amos, of course."
