Condon did it...Beyonce is Dreamgirls...Start puking, NOW!!

Now Everybody Admit It, Knowles is your DREAMGIRL!
Hey folks, Harry here... I've known Bill Condon for years now - ever since that screening in that frozen shoebox of a theater at Sundance where GODS & MONSTERS first unfurled. Even then I think Bill was stunned by how much I looked like a young Diana Ross. After years and years of training and vocal classes he finally announced that I'd be singing and danc... what? Oh. OH! DAMMIT! Bill Condon cast Beyonce Knowles instead of me in the lead of Dreamworks' film production of DREAMGIRLS. Now Bill did a brilliant job of adapting the stage version of CHICAGO into the film it became - just in the power of his wonderful script. KINSEY reaffirmed his chops as a director. Personally, Bill helming DREAMGIRLS is very exciting. And Beyonce? Well after spending 3 of the Oscars' 5 hours on stage singing songs that never really deserved to be being sung on that stage - it'll be nice to see her talent behind Tom Eyen's lyrics and Henry Krieger's instrumentation! This broke in Variety, they made no mention of Bill passing over me for this part. DAMN THEM! DAMN THEM ALL!!!

This isn't horrible news to me unless she's playing Effie.

Condon put pipsqueak Zellweger in the role of Roxie Hart. Enough said.

I think Beyonce would be good in the role of Deena. If you're not familiar with the show:

At first Curtis falls in love with Effie, the full-figured lead singer who seems to spark the act. Later, in an attempt to make the act more sultry, he moves Deena into Effie's lead spot. But when Curtis' love interest also switches to Deena, Effie erupts in a rage, prompted more by hurt than the loss of her singing slot, and announces that she is not going along anymore. Michelle replaces Effie, and the Dreams go on to achieve international stardom and a string of chart-topping hits.

The pretty (and not necessarily most talented) one taking over the group, a fallout ensues? I'm sure she can handle that role.

They could just film DC3 backstage and save themselves the cost of making a movie.

Thank god I work in television. Getting a movie made comes at a horrible price!

I tried to find the other Dreamgirls thread, but I couldn't. It was rumored that Jamie Foxx and Usher were attached. I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who's in the Broadway circle, and he said that the two of them have definitely signed on as Curtis and C.C. respectively. There was apparently some monetary issue that was holding up Jamie's end (though I don't think it was a matter of him being greedy), but it's all set at this point.

Still no Effie. sad Holding out hope on Jennifer Hudson. She was in a Broadway benefit performance of Hair last year, and she was apparently phenomenal and - best of all - a dream to work with. No antics, no drama, no attitude...nothing.
