Abbey Road or Revolver I only have 3 Beatles albums in my collection, which are The White Album, Sgt. Peppers, and #1's. I personally favor their later stuff after Beatlemania was over. After listening to Sgt. Pepper last Sunday, I became interested in more of their essential recordings. People tell me that Abbey Road is the next one to buy because since I'm really an official Beatle beginner, I'll be more used to that sound and since it's so popular today. So, what's the next album I should buy: Revolver or Abbey Road?

damn, that's a hard choice. abbey road is amazing. so is revolver. abbey road is 1/2 full songs, and 1/2 incomplete ideas smooshed together into a kind of medley. that's really cool, but it can also be kind of frustrating - especially if you're a fan of shuffle play. revolver isn't quite as challenging, but it's damn COOL. it's where they make the segue from boyband to hipsters, and in my opinion the album's just sexy and sly and charming as all get-out.
i really don't think you can make a wrong choice.

Either one will only broaden your appeal to the Beatles. BOTH albums are incredible but Revolver tips the scales a bit for me only, because song for song, I think Revolver is a little stronger.
Eleanor Rigby, Here, There, Everywhere, And Your Bird Can Sing, Got To Get You In My Life, Tomorrow Never Knows...there is not a clunker in the bunch...I even love Yellow Submarine and George's Love You To. The only reason it wins this battle by a hair is I am not crazy for I Want You (She's So Heavy)...its a little too self indulgent for me and I also tend to skip Octopus' Garden as well. But since the rest of the album is SO great that if you chose this one you won't be disappointed. Plus a lot of fans think I Want You is brilliant so to each his own. Abbey Road also contains my absolute favorite Beatles song: Here Comes The Sun. So I suggest close your eyes and pick one...they both are classics.

Abbey Road by a mile.
I bought Revolver before Abbey Road and I prefer the latter. They are both great albums, but Abbey Road has a maturity that Revolver is missing IMHO. The side two medley on Abbey Road is mindblowing and worth the price of the album. Paul McCartney's bass playing will impress anyone with ears and the way the songs bleed in and out of one another is damn good too. Besides, Coming Together and Something are on this album. Abbey Road was technically the last Beatles album, it was recorded after what would be their last release, Let It Be. [Edited 5/27/05 8:40am]

Abbey Road by a universe. It's a remarkable album, their masterpiece ... apart from Octopoo Garden. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

Hell just get all the Beatles albums, there isn't a bad one in the bunch, unless you're not a fun of simple light-hearted sixties pop-rock, in which case just get everything after and including Rubber Soul. Apart from that, I think Revolver and Abbey Road are each contenders for the greatest album in the history of the universe; Revolver is stronger song for song, but the closing medley at the climax of Abbey Road is orgasmic, so I call it a draw.

Okay, really you need them both, no doubt.
Both are full of great Beatles songs. Abbey Road has George's 'Something' on it, which is a great song, and the medley which makes up the 2nd half of the album probably sits up there with some of the Beatles best works. But Revolver is a groundbreaking album. Here you hear new ideas from the Beatles and it's a classic. If I had to choose just one - I couldn't

Abbey Road.
Then Revolver. Then Yellow Submarine & Magical Mystery Tour at the same time. Then Let It Be. Then get Paul McCartney's 1st solo album & George Harrison's All Things Must Pass & John Lennon's Imagine. Then you should be Beatled out.

Get Revolver first. Then Abbey Road. I say this cuz I feel abby Road is a "touch" better...by a hairs breatdth. Revolver is HELLAH groovy though. U'l love them both no matter which order. But I suggest save the best for last or risk being dissappointed, though that risk is VERY low.

Both! Although the Abbey Road cover is loaded with Paul death clues. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Ok...Both are fantastic albums
I lean more tword Abbey Road more because of thee story behind it. Although it was released before "Let it Be", it was actually recorded after those sessions were over. Paul and John wanted to give the fans one last "Beatle" album before they split and just have a ball doing it..."Let it be" was released as a companion to the film...which is why it was released last http://www.facebook.com/p...935246593a
