Uh yes she has, check your brain next time. Janet hasn't done a non-sexual CD since Control and Rhythm Nation. Both of those CD's only had one adult song each and that was considered PG-13 compared to the shit she sings(if you can call it that)about from the Janet album to Damita Jo.

How many songs does an album need to have to be considered a sexual album? How many were there on 'The Velvet Rope'?

formatting edit
[Edited 5/26/05 7:18am]

On Velvet Rope...

Tonight's The Night (PG-13)
Rope Burn (R)
Anything (PG-13)

Janet:

Throb (R)
Anytime Anyplace (PG-13)
Body That Loves You (PG-13)

All 4 U:
Would U Mind (RRRR) music
Love Scene (Oooh Baby) (PG-13)

Damita Jo:
Sexhibition (R)
Strawberry Bounce (R)
Warmth (RRRRR) music
Moist (R)

Rhythm Nation:
Someday Is Tonight (R)

Control:

Funny How Time Flies (PG-13 but almost get the R rating)
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

That's because Paula's "My Love Is For Real" (1995) is a direct rip-off. She just hired Ofra Haza instead of Kathleen Battle.

That's because Paula melded This Time and If to get My Love Is For Real in 1995.

I like "my love is for real". Well its ok. "this time" is an odd track thats for sure.

Ok I havn't heard "my love is for real" for a "real" long time. That album is pretty average/poor. "never gonna give u up" has momentum, other then that, just average.

Actually, I just listened to it again and updated my comment. And yeah, that album was a huge fall-off for Paula.

I remember thinking "this album wins the award for most songwriters and producers ever on one album". Every track is a different producer. Iam hearing it now. "crazy cool" is breezy but ok. "under the influence" is classic paula (whatver that is?). I like the fake beatles vibe and the wild pair (mc skat kats) backing vox.

Paula shoulda got oliver leibar again. I know she ditched him on "spellbound", and that album works. but I love leibars cloned jam/lewis sound.

"forever your girl" is more enjoyable then "control". Chock full of uptempo dance pop tracks. Thats what I want to see.

mad Of course u would prefer "control". But I do love liebars work. Plus jesse's "i need you" is a firm fav too. I love to dance. And that album makes me.

"the way that u love me" is very jam/lewis. Alot more digital, crisp and back then, more up to date. Superb (first) video too.

I do like some songs on Forever Your Girl, but that album was dated a month after its release. Talk about your anachronistic production. Jam & Lewis' stuff is timeless in comparison.

I was not impressed w/ the video.. saw it last nite. It mimics D'angelo's how does it feel.. except Marques has this bathtub scene.. w/ his butt all out... not very creative.

Its funny thinkin back, cuz he was such a goofball playin "Roger" on the sitcom w/ JACKEE called SisterSister...

Wrong.

How many times are we gonna go over this, folks?

janet. (1993) explored the various guises of love and relationships. The Velvet Rope (1997) was an introspective study dealing with self-worth. All For You (2001) was a playful album with Janet largely musing over finding the "right guy" and tracks about being newly single AFTER 9 years (which is largely 79% of the album -- sans the interludes). The only overtly sexual tracks (which, weirdly, folks think constitute the entire LP) come in the album's mid-section -- from "Love Scene (Ooh Baby)" climaxing with "Would You Mind" (...and that's only two tracks*!) Would you rather she be Hester Prynne and negate the intimate, passionate side of her life? For the sake of what, her own self-expression?

I hate to be the sour grape of the group, but I'm not gonna have hot, sweaty monkey sex while listening to tracks like "Together Again," "You," "Got Til It's Gone," "Velvet Rope (feat. Vanessa Mae)," "This Time (feat. Kathleen Battle)," "Special," " "Empty," "What'll I Do," "Someone To Call My Lover," "All For You," "You Ain't Right," "Go Deep," "Free Xone," "Doesn't Really Matter," "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You) (feat. Carly Simon)," "Better Days," "Feels So Right," "Come On Get Up," "Truth," "Whoops Now," "Funky Big Band," "Where Are You Now," "New Agenda (feat. Chuck D)," "Because of Love"... you catch my drift.

BULLSHIT! The Janet album was just about her coming into her sexuality, aside from the few tracks you listed that was non-sexual the majority focused on sex. Her subsequent albums have focused mainly on sex. Come on with the bullshit. The Velvet Rope wasn't a completely sexual explicit record, but to answer the question of the orger that said how many songs were on there. The interlude where she is calling up one of her girlfriends like she is a guy and she starts moaning like she is masturbating on the phone and the girl says your coochie gone shrivel up and fall off and "Tonight's the night" was about a threesome between her a man and a woman. Rope Burn is another. I can't remember is My Need was another.
