It is true and John Mayer, Maroon 5 and Pearl Jam are opening for them as well in other states.

I am a Stones fanatic and have tickets for the Atlanta show - Joss Stone is supposed to be opening for them there. Yes, the Stones have a long history of having black artists open for them - that is where their music came from and they acknowledge their influences. I think Mick now likes to have current bands open for them. I like new music as well as old and during the 40Licks Tour there were a lot of teens and 20s in the crowd at the show I went to (No Doubt opened then - 2002) and they were great. I don't think some of the older people knew who they were but nobody booed or anything.
I would like to see any of the opening acts that have been mentioned, except I'm not crazy about John Mayer. Yes, I am a Stones fan but I like all kinds of music and, despite the actions of some, I would NEVER boo or throw things.

i take it that 5 years later, we can expect them to release a record which supposedly samples the jeers and the sounds of bottles being thrown at them (a la "Pop Life")?

god, i hope so. if there's one person i'd like to take a beer bottle upside the head to, it'd be Fergie. i'll be able to live vicariously through drunken, outraged Stones fans. woot!

That's crazy, I thought Kelis got love in the UK.

Well she has a strong UK fanbase, but that's at HER gigs. She got a LOT of boooos opening for U2 there. Their fans don't play. I heard they were throwing lettuce onstage. LOL.

This may come as a shock to some people, but I would say that the best musician out of all the opening acts mentioned is John Mayer. I've seen him live a couple of times, and they were 2 of the best shows I've ever been to. He's actually a pretty amazing artist.

Lenny Kravitz would have been a much better choice nod

The Black Eyed Peas are slated to open for The Stones on their new U.S. tour. This is nothing new for the Stones, who has had a long history of having black acts open for them on their tours. Stevie Wonder, P, Living Colour, etc. I've always applouded the Stones for this. It's just one of their ways of giving back. Although I think Fergie has a good voice, I'm not crazy about the group. What are ya'll thoughts of them opening for the Stones?

I don't think it's a "giving back" thing at all. BEP and their management rightly saw the promotional potential of opening for a very high profile act playing to mass audiences they might not normally reach. The only colour that counts here is green. wink

BEP suck some seriously questionable ass. They're nothing more than a joke band spewing out repetitive hit after repetitive hit now.

Yeah. I bet all their mansions and cars are fat, though.

I wonder if I were a popstar would I sell out to make money...

But this leads to a larger question.

Does admitting the absolute truth of the Peas' wackness also mean we should put down their desire to make that money?

I say no. Just get what you have to get and leave the scene. Loved "Joints and Jam." Now, they make me miss Hammer.

I think the Peas had their turn at the whole "underground scene" and they got tired of it. They said "F**k it." Let's make some money, feed our kids and get from under-the-radar. They really started talking with some behind the scenes folks that could make their MTV dreams really happen, signed some papers and secured that "bling." I don't blame them. You hang around folks who drive Bentleys enough, you'll start to want one yourself. They suck now, but I guess their wives, girlfriends and children are happy.

Nature of the beast.

"Let's Get It Started" is a fun, decent song.Unfortunately, their latest single is awful.I saw the video yesterday and I was like "wtf"? Can't remember what it was called, but the video takes place at a game show. The song is a mess, and the video is stupid.I hope for their sake, they don't perform this song at the Stones concert. They will surely get booed.

You hit that dead on the nail. Plus their stuff is plain stupid and even boring but the MTV crowd laps it all up.

Isn't that video awful? It's like a fucked up version of The Price Is Right. Plus the song sucks super ass.

In a word: OVERRATED!! Just like all the other riff-raff, MTV stuff out there.... sad

I have their very first album which was really good. But, they've lost their flare and have become another poppy-cock bunch. No, thanks...
