kev1n said: Where has it all gone? Only a few years ago, in the late 90's, it seemed like rock music was about to enter another age of dominating the charts. Nine inch nails just released the fragile, Bowie reinvented himself (again), Marilyn manson was at his peak and bands like the offspring, foo fighters, skunk anansie,...had revitalised the marked and the interest in the genre.
Now, only five years later we're stuck with ridiculus acts like sum 41, a freakin' boyband calling themselves a punk-band (busted), linkin park and above all the kings of kitch: the darkness and slipknot. As a result the charts are dominated by out of control gangsta-rap acts and watered-down r&b rip-offs. The 50's had Elvis The 60's had the beatles and the stones the 70's had bowie, led zeppelin,... the 80's had queen, metallica,... the 90's had NIN, Marilyn manson, Nirvana,... We have...B*llsh*t can someone PLEASE pick up an electric guitar and blast all this crap out of the charts! Guitars had most of the 20th Century. Keyboards (especially Synths) will own the 21st Century. So let it go!

So wait. Let me ask again. You play guitar? I started to. But I've had a pretty bad back injury that I am just now recovering from, so I can't play for a while still. I love it though. So at this rate, I'll be about 70 years old before I can save music. That's awesome. That you play that is. Not about the back. Sorry about that. I screwed mine up pretty bad too. Swimming and water aerobics help a ton I've found.

there are a LOT of great rock bands right now. Most of them aren't in the Top 40, but the Top 40 has changed. Rock doesn't need to be "saved". It's well and good.
