can someone please pick up an electric guitar and save rock music ?!?

Where has it all gone? Only a few years ago, in the late 90's, it seemed like rock music was about to enter another age of dominating the charts. Nine inch nails just released the fragile, Bowie reinvented himself (again), Marilyn manson was at his peak and bands like the offspring, foo fighters, skunk anansie,...had revitalised the marked and the interest in the genre.

Now, only five years later we're stuck with ridiculus acts like sum 41, a freakin' boyband calling themselves a punk-band (busted), linkin park and above all the kings of kitch: the darkness and slipknot. As a result the charts are dominated by out of control gangsta-rap acts and watered-down r&b rip-offs.

The 50's had Elvis
The 60's had the beatles and the stones
the 70's had bowie, led zeppelin,...
the 80's had queen, metallica,...
the 90's had NIN, Marilyn manson, Nirvana,...
We have...B*llsh*t

can someone PLEASE pick up an electric guitar and blast all this crap out of the charts!
It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

the fact is, look further then the top 40, bands like sum41, good charlotte, creed or lifehouse are either: 'alternative' bands created by big multinationals to make big money, so-so musicians letting the record companies decide how they express themselves....

The shame is, when alternative rockbands like REM and Nirvana broke trough the big record companies jumped on the bandwagon and turned it into a some fake bowl of shit.....

I mean: which musiclovers can take bands like Limp Bizkit, Live and Linking Park serious? I mean: those are the kind of bands who would wear make-up and poodle-hair if they would be big in the period 'hair-metal' was 'the hype'.

I must admit i am not impressed also by bands als The Strokes and The Hives, just as uninspiring as some ramones/stones coverband, or 'hyped up' bands as Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party.

my conclusion: The 'alternative' music-press are hyping up bands in the same way as the big companies bring on their fake 'alternative' artists....

When youre looking for some good music, music thats really inspiring, thoughtfull and intense, my advice is: look further and follow your ears and soul. Decide for yourselve, and buy what you want.

To come on terms: right now i dont see any band that can 'save' rock music, because both the commercial market and indie-market are simple money-minders.
