Brooke Valnetine's Album?

Is it any good? I really like Ciara's album and would lump them in the same category. What is Brooke's cd like? Is it just crunk or other styles?

Nice album. Not a "crunk" record. The Lil Jon produced lead single throws everyone off to think that it is, but it isn't. Executive produced by Subliminal (who also discovered her). Brooke is part of the Subliminal camp and she's his starlet (the way Janet is to J&L, Amerie to Richcraft, Aaliyah to Blackground, Brandy to Darkchild, etc.) Native of Houston. Standout cuts are "Pass Us By" (strongly recommend you check this out, one of the hottest tracks of the year, IMHO), "I Want You Dead" (an updated "I Hate You Much Right Now" rant for the TRL set), "Playa (feat. Jermaine Dupri)" (if you liked the stuff JD did with Mariah on Mimi, then you'll like this), "Thrill of the Chase" and "Tell Me Why? (You Don't Love Me)" are also cool tunes. "Million Bucks (feat. Queenz Del)" and "Taste Of Dis" Promising start for this girl. Take a listen.

Thanks Janfan! So how would you compare this cd to Ciara's? I like most of the tracks on her album but after track 8 I sually stop listening as it goes into slow jam mode. Is Brooke's cd a mixture of slow and fast tracks? I hope it's mostly fast.

Be sure to read my new Dag-nabbit edit. I added some more thoughts on the record. Brooke's CD and Ciara's CD are pretty much comparable. Ciara's has more of that "crunk" flavor — if that's what you're looking for. Brooke starts off with uptempo stuff, but at the end of the album it does get kind of slow towards the final stretch with the somber ballads "Laugh 'Til I Cry" and "Dying From A Broken Heart." She doesn't really have a "sexy slow jam" on this one. Guess the girl's been scorned by some lover out there.

Oh, BTW, "Thrill of the Chase" is not on the album. It was left off, but I like it. Search for that track on the web if you can.

She also did a track with the late Dirt McGirt (a.k.a. Ol' Dirty Bastard) entitled "Blah, Blah, Blah."
