The Arcade Fire, Crown Of Love [radio show]
Followed by a song The Arcade Fire often plays live, The Talking Heads, This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) which I think is very funny of my WMP to link together...

Do you put your player on random Gooey? Or do you just put on what you're in the mood for?

I let my WMP play whatever it likes. If something gets on I don't like, I skip. If a certain artist or song comes on that fits my mood, I just go to that album and play it. Often I play albums, but do not post them here, cuz that is kinda boring. Albums I have been into lately; The Arcade Fire, Funeral (cuz of the live show) Edan, Beauty And The Beast Cinister's tip; Chad VanGaalen, which is not really an album, just three songs. Iron & Wine's Woman King EP, which is SO hauntingly beautiful I play it ALL of the time Rick James Live (thanks Stu!) Roisin Murphy's Sequins EP 1 & 2, which is the soundtrack to how I feel lately Ramses Shaffy, Zijn Grootste Successen. My dad's fave artist. Tori Amos, all of her work. Just a month! I sometimes wish I was more like that and could be more random with my listening. It's rare that I listen to more than one artist, sometimes even more than one album in a week. I get so caught up in my musical OCD that I can't break out of my old habits.

Oh, and I've been meaning to ask you... What do you think of her post-Pele work now. I know you kinda lost interest after that album. What are your impressions now that you've started to listen to ALL of her stuff? It's fun being complete, eh?

What are your impressions now that you've started to listen to ALL of her stuff? It's fun being complete, eh? I have been always getting her every album, even if I do not listen to them very often. I lost interest around To Venus And Back, btw. That was material I could not tap into. I have been completist up to Choirgirl, getting the b-sides and all. Then the next two albums just totally hit it home; Tori was off to another plain than I was. Even though I could never dislike Tori's work because I love her voice so much, her songs, lyrics and intensity had been not reaching me since Venus. Through you I have been opening up again. And even though none of the albums after Choirgirl sound 'complete' to me, I do play them much more often now. This is the same problem I have been having with Prince, btw. Sometimes you just need an artist to come around and play for you to break into a wayward album, dunnit?

To me the surprise of not knowing what you get is something that reminds me of Dutch radio before commercialism dug it's claws in our broadcasting systems. Back in the day you would wait for the announced new Prince single on the radio and while waiting you would hear the likes of Laura Pausini, Guns No Roses and Michael Jackson. Not immediately artists I would rush out to get the new single by, but at least your ear would be more open towards other sounds. My WMP only plays the 7872 songs I put into it myself; it's Radio Gooey. It's bliss! This morning I listened to Roisin Murphy and The Super Furry Animals before hitting the shuffle-button.
