I actually give this album credit for proving one thing.

Where the talent lay in No Doubt..... With Gwen mish mashed with the boys in her band it may have been hard to know Gwen's actual input.
L.A.M.E proved she had virtually no input at all from the real songwriters in No Doubt. Not even the talented producers on the album could hide the fact that Gwen on her own is a lost soul. And she sucks Harajuku monkey cock.

Watch out, someone could interpret that as a racial slur.

Anyhow, I remember when Gwen wrote "Underneath It All" and then explained what it was like to actually sit down and write it. It was like an episode of The Ashlee Simpson Show.

It wasn't meant as a racial slur, it means all she does on her album is kiss their ass, in every fucking song. it's annoying as hell and really lame.

lol I know you didn't mean it like that, just that it could be interpreted that way.

Gwen is borderline imperialist herself, with those Harajuku girls. She carts them around everywhere she goes, they never speak, and she has lyrics like "I'd dress them wicked, I'd give them names".

Oh i know. She treats them like her fucking slaves.
She shows just how hard she tries.

I bet her band mates are in disbelief. I don't think there's any way Gwen could return to No Doubt now that her true colors and intentions have shone.

I also can't believe half this board worships her and dishes on such a superior like Mariah who has proven herself over and over again.

Gwen existed before L.A.M.B., y'know.

Dude, get over it. L.A.M.B. is a glossy, fun record- nothing more, nothing less. You're taking it way too seriously!

As for Mariah proving herself, she has proven herself as what, exactly? A trend-chasing skank with a bitch personality?

No, it's the people who hype up LAMB to be some great thing that take it too seriously, and im here trying to figure out what's happening to mankind and music. And it's not a fun record.

Mariah has proved longevity and actual talent, something Gwen will never have.

I haven't seen anyone hype L.A.M.B. as a great thing- only a fun dance record, which it is. smile

I'd say Gwen has longevity already, having been in the business nearly as long as Mariah and in the mainstream for a decade. Call me crazy, but I prefer Gwen's silly, fun style over Mariah's melodramatic glitter princess schtick any day. shrug

Gwen's longevity is thanks to the boys in No Doubt.
With Mariah her fame is because of her and her voice.

I honestly don't think Gwen is an artist at all, or that she even contributed to the No Doubt songs.
Her showmanship was awesome in No Doubt, now she only struts around with the Harajuku chicks on stage.

Tommy Mottola wouldn't have given Mariah the time of day if it weren't for her outstanding vocal power, there is no comparison.

Solo Gwen Stefani is like the Cyndi Lauper of today. She's just a fun energetic cute punky pop girl. She's about a million times better than any other pop female out there today--and with No Doubt she is the lead singer of a kick ass band.

Her new shit isn't meant to be rocket science or deep music--just fun pop stuff to dance to. If you don't like it, then the album probably wasn't intended for you anyway.

If Madonna and Cyndi Lauper and Blondie had a child it'd be Gwen Stefani. Deal with it. She's hot.

COSIGN. gwen if friggin HAWT!....one of the girliest girls in the world....even with the lack of a boosm. MMMMM...gotta love ya some gwen. I like her music for it's lack of deep emotion. Sometimes people just wanna have fun...and she supplies that very well...with style and a degree of class.
U better stop talkin shit about her people...or she's gonna meet U after school w/ no Principals or student teachers...and whoop ya!

Seeing her cry in that damn video from Glitter (and actually that entire project) is evidence enough. Wasn't it Mariah who scorned Madonna behind the scenes at an award show saying, "How many sales do YOU have"?

Every diva has to cry at least once for the public. Hell, Janet doing it at every damn show for who knows how many tours wasn't overly dramatic? I wouldn't say that's taking yourself too seriously. I'd just say that's being cheesy. And the whole Madonna thing...that's just catty. When I think of taking yourself too seriously, Mariah's about the last person to come to mind. lol Those album titles, anyone?

That's why I think she takes herself too seriously. She comes off as a pompous diva who thinks she has depth and soul but with album titles like Glitter and Charmbracelet, it just seems insincere.

I personally don't see it, so I guess there's no point in arguing about it.

She's fabulous and extravagent, but I don't get the pompous or too serious bit.

I think she has a lot of fun with her songs and videos. When I think Mariah, I think fun.

When I think of taking yourself too seriously, I think Evan...whatever and Avril. Mariah's a riot by comparison.

You mean Tommy bought those 150 million albums she sold?

Anyway, please tell me what songwriting and artistic talent Gwen shows besides being able to sing reasonably well? Her lyrics are ridiculously childish. She doesn't produce. She sings about Vivienne Westwood and uses mute Japanese women-children as gimmick props. Her songs have 3 topics: fashion, Gavin, gender-related angst. She samples Fiddler. Enough said.

Better leave that one to Eve.

But seriously, I think she's got decent stage presence and was a good front woman. Her writing has become increasingly irreverant and silly, but I think that's what she was going for. I'm not a fan per se, but I usually enjoy No Doubt's/Gwen's singles when they come out. I think she's capable of writing a semi-meaningful lyric, I just don't think she was trying with this record.

Substitute irrelevant for irreverent, and I'd agree.

She's definitely a great frontwoman. But it's sort of like Blondie/Debbie Harry solo.
