"We Belong Together" advances to #3 on Hot 100 - Greatest Gainer/Airplay

Dissing the likes of Gwen while extolling the virtues of Mariah Carey seems a bit of a paradox. lol

i'm sure the remix will be even hotter!!!

Mariah Carey's decided she belongs together — with Jadakiss and Styles P. The singer has enlisted the rappers to be on a DJ Clue-produced remix of "We Belong Together," which she's releasing Tuesday on iTunes.

I saw her perform on Leno and the song ain't that bad. Good performance. And I'm certaintly not one to throw a causal compliment toward Mariah Carey. I would easily praise Bush first!

Yeah, um, because Gwen is so original and like, creative. You know, ripping off 80's new wave, Cyndi Lauper and Madonna every chance she gets. And her songs are so totally deep. rolleyes

They are both equally shallow, but Mariah at the very least tends to add a strong melody to her music, something which is noticeably absent from "Hollaback Girl". The worst song on the record, so it had to be the biggest hit.

I never claimed Gwen was deep, but neither is Mariah. It just seems a bit odd to be relieved that a pop tart is near the top of the charts with a catchy song and bemoan the fact that another pop tart is at the top of the charts with a catchy song. biggrin

Oh, and the worst song from L.A.M.B. goes to "Rich Girl" hands down.

Uh, well it could be the fact that I have a known distaste for Hollaback Girl. And Mariah has a better voice wink Neither can really be classified as pop tarts, though, since they both can actually sing.

Stop claiming mariah can sing. When has that ever made u like a POP song. Soul this is not u know.

Besides, mariah has a tendancy to show off her "soul" by wailing and doing her stupid vocal tricks to display "emotion". Thank god janet never did that.

I hate vocal gymnastics. That does not = emotion or anything other then having making urself look good. Alica keys does it too. It is annoying and infact can ruin songs by adding unintentional humour.

Am I supposed to take any of this seriously, coming from you? lol

Claiming Mariah can't sing is stupidity. Her style is a totally different matter, a matter of personal taste.

I find that with predominantly pop artists (Madonna, Kylie, Mariah, Whitney, Britney, Beyonce etc.), so much of the appeal depends on personal taste and image. Beyonce produces some standard pop fodder, but I hate it all because I can't stand her personality or her melodramatic voice.

Vocal gymnastics are a part of RnB music. It really goes back to gospel. I think you don't enjoy RnB music.
