not even close . Prince did 191,000 in the first week of Musicology. 20,000 of those were concert "sales"

It is good on see Amiee on the chart again.

Tell me about it. That's not good at all. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.....on another note, Mimi seems to be doing rather well. It's nice to see her having success again.

He did that with 'The Rainbow Children' album. It only went to #109 in the U.S. 'The Vault' says total sales since 2001 have been around 130,000.

now how can aimee mann (who was never as big as prince) out indie him? this is interesting.....does this just mean she has a more loyal fan base?

I dunno. It could be a lot of things. How many stores actually carried 'The Rainbow Children' when it was released? Was it available at Wal-Mart? That makes a big difference. How well was each album promoted? Or maybe Prince fans heard about the jazz/JW theme and just didn't buy it? 'N.E.W.S.' did even worse (did not chart), but that's understandable being all instrumentals.

I think the bottom line is that Prince's hardcore fanbase nowadays is even lower that anyone previously thought. 'Musicology' benefitted from the exposure in stores and on MTV that a major label can buy you.
