Originally scheduled for a June 21 release via Arista, Carlos Santana's new album, "All That I Am," has been pushed to Sept. 6. The reason for the change was unknown at deadline.

As with his past two albums, 1999's "Supernatural" and 2002's "Shaman," the new set is tipped to feature collaborations with a number of high-profile acts, including OutKast's Big Boi, Mary J. Blige, Los Lonely Boys, the Black Eyed Peas, Sean Paul, Robert Randolph and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett.

The set reteams Santana with Michelle Branch, who guested on the 2002 single "The Game of Love." That track spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart and four weeks at the top of the Adult Contemporary tally. It also peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Santana will begin a North American tour May 30 in Tampa, Fla., with support from Los Lonely Boys. Another run of dates will get underway Sept. 21 in Vancouver, with support from Randolph and the Family Band.

In between those two legs, Santana will join Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter for five shows in Japan in late July and early august under the moniker Emissaries for Peace.

My theory: the engineers couldn't differentiate between this album and his previous two after listening to them, so they filed the masters incorrectly.

I wonder if there will be a duet with Gwen Stefani and the Harajuku girls on this album

This is bad news. Say what you will about his previous two cd's. Santana is a great guitarist and it shows in all of his work. If people don't like the collaborations, don't buy the cd.

Why is Santana seemingly unable to work with quality, top-draw artists that better suit his musical skills?

He really seems to be insulting himself with his recent collaborations.

'Supernatural' was great, but there is no need to stay stuck in that same format for every new release. He will never emulate the success of 'Supernatural' anyway.

He would be better off moving on and taking some of his new listeners on a deeper and more rewarding musical journey.

So what happened to 'Hymns', the instrumental jazz-rock album Carlos was supposed to be recording, with Dennis Chambers on drums? It was meant to be a throwback of sorts to his great jazz-rock stuff of the '70s. I was really looking forward to that. It could have had Carlos reuniting with people like John McLaughlin and Herbie Hancock.

Who needs another 'Supernatural'/ 'Shaman', full of pointless guest star nobodies? I'll bet his label told him to can it. So that'll go into the vault with the unreleased Santana/ Wayne Shorter Band live album from 1988, then, that Carlos keeps saying he wants released.

When will artists and labels ever be about the music and not about the dough?

Jeez i wish he'd collaborate with Prince on CD.

Anyway, Carlos is never going to top his early seventies albums.
The only collaboration that really worked is with John 'Mahavishnu' Mclaughlin on Love, devotion, surrender. One of the greatest fusion albums ever!
