OMG! A good mid 90's rap album! 
Haha. Yeah u shoulda known huh? I too love people like too short, epmd, public enemy and early snoop stuff, but this 1994 album was one of the the best and most underated of the year and I just wished it sold more to save hammers failing baggy ass. I moved from US to UK in 1994, so I heard nothing. I do have the videos though to this album! Yeah hammer sold out but hammer was no faker like vanilla ice. Hammer flowed damn well on this album. Highlights its all good (is this where the saying came from?) Dont stop (my fav- the "roger" remix was killer!) Pumps and a bump Break 'em off something proper Dont fight the feeling (hammer does soul?) Somethin' 'bout the goldie in me The funky headhunter Pumps and a bumnp (teddy remix) Hey vainandy, even an old skooler like u would like this. Beleive me it rolls..... (if only the Deion sanders duet "straight to my feet" was on this album too  I love that song) | |

By this time, gansta rap had taken over, the tempo was slowed down, and even Hammer was dressing like them. People liked to call Hammer a sell out when he was at his biggest but I called him a sell out when he sold out to that damn thug gansta look and I wasn't about to stick around and see if he sold out and tried to "fit in" with their music either. Biggie, Pac, Gang Starr, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Common Sense, Digable Planets, Redman, The Roots, Jeru The Damaja, and SO MANY OTHERS dropped jewels in '94 that were far, far, FAR superior to Funky Headhunter. I'm not saying that it sucked. I'm just saying to say that it's one of the best and most underrated albums of 1994, arguably the greatest year in hip-hop history, is to put it charitably, a stretch. Vain, If u liked "pumps...." then it may be worth checking out the album cheap. hammer did change hes image alot. He was not himself, but musically he was still himself. His humour was gone by "the funky headhunter" though, as had the james Brown aping. | |

Oh yeah "addams groove". I even got the video. yeah song is silly. But fun though. Some of my 50 cent loving mates find this song to be the best song ever (?). The chorus
"they do what they wanna do, say what they wanna say, live how they wanna live, play how they wanna play.....(macho chant) the addams family" After that vid, the album "too legit too quit" kinda sunk. Despite the superb all out dance fest that was "this is the way we roll". A video that still holds up very well today for dancing. That video beats anything dancing has to offer these days. 
Great song too. Catchy. I was hearing the remix off the single today. "Iam rolling on". Tell 'em where u live hammer. | |

The funniest thing was that album was released in 1994 but it seemed like it was released a million yrs after the whole baggy pants, typewriter Hammer era to my 12 yr old mind at the time. | |
