Bobby Brown IS David Ruffin

David was a HUGE coke/crackhead...David's ego was outta control with the Tempts and he got fired....David was accused of beatin' up on Tammi Terrell. The Tempts did a reunion tour with new & old members and it failed miserably because of David's eventual no-shows & temper tantrums...Any of this shit soundin' familiar?

Five Heartbeats was based loosely on The Tempts, Dells and Tops....Townsend wanted to take a little from all of those groups...But if you read Otis Williams' book about the Tempts...You'd swear that The Five Heartbeats was mostly about the Tempts...

The fact of the matter is that David Ruffin had as much talent in his pinky as Bobbay has throughout his entire tortured soul.
I understand the comparison based on self destruction and ego, but when it comes to raw talent and ability, there is no comparison.
Ruff had a big mouth but he at least backed it up with brilliance on stage.

I never said that Bobby had as much talent...But all of the destructive behavior and ego are definitely comparable.

The Five Heartbeats mostly about the Dells though. They have a picture of them at the end of the movie in the credits. I even have another picture of the Dells posing up with the cast.

they had a picture of the Dells at the end because the Dells provided the singing voices for the singing parts in the movie.

David Ruffin' + Bobby Brown = Eddie King, Jr. biggrin
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

CANTON, Mass. (AP) - A family court judge on Wednesday gave R&B singer Bobby Brown two days to prove he has the income to fund educational trusts for two of his children.

Norfolk County Family Court Judge Paula Carey gave Brown, who lives in Georgia, until Friday to produce contracts showing he has enough income to establish the trusts.

Brown, a Roxbury native, said he didn't know the payments hadn't started.

"I've been shooting a television show and recording an album, so it's hard," he said. "For me, it's easy to not know that a payment is not paid because other people are supposed to pay them."

Last year, Brown was jailed for a day after he failed to pay $63,500 in child support payments he owed Kim Ward of Stoughton. He was released after making the payment.

Brown was summoned to court in March after falling behind on his payments, said Patrick McDermott, the court's Register of Probate.

By Wednesday, Brown had caught up on the payments but still hadn't established the educational trusts he'd promised to set up years ago, McDermott said.

Brown, 36, told Carey he had money coming in from reality TV and music projects.

He is expected to make four payments totaling $160,000 within the next six months to establish the trusts.

Brown, who lives in Alpharetta, north of Atlanta, with his wife, Whitney Houston, will be the subject of a new eight-episode reality TV show, "Being Bobby Brown," that will debut June 30 on Bravo.

Here's a little something I found on wikipedia about the Five Heartbeats movie:

Besides the direct inspiration from The Dells, the story of The Five Heartbeats is loosley based upon those of a number of other classic soul performers:

Jackie Wilson: like Bird of The Falcons in this film, Wilson was once dangled out of a window for asking about his royalties.

The Temptations: Temptations lead singer David Ruffin developed a cocaine addiction and became difficult to work with, leading to his replacement by Dennis Edwards. In The Five Heartbeats, Eddie King is the Ruffinesque figure, and is replaced by Michael "Flash" Turner.

The Isley Brothers: The cover to their 1966 Motown album, This Old Heart of Mine, featured on its album cover a portrait of a White couple framed with a heart, instead of the African American men in the group. While pandering and discriminatory, this was apparently in an attempt to reach a wider audience. The same situation befalls The Five Heartbeats in this film. J.T. loudly challenges the decision: "I ain't never seen five niggas on Elvis Presley's album cover!"

I really hate to ask this, but were the (repeated) blows to Tammi Terrell's head the cause of her death?

Guess we'll never know.

I know that this is kinda off topic, but this reminds me of something. A rapper named Sam Sneed (who used to be on DeathRow Records) was in the hospital just for a tumor a few years ago in I think 2002 or 03. Anyway, Daz Dillinger said in an interview that Sam had got the tumor (years earlier in '96) from when he was on DeathRow cause 2pac & SugeKnight once gave a royal ass-whooping for whatever reasons (that ass-whooping included gettin kicked and stomped in the head a numerous times). After Daz said that, there was some speculation on the net amongst gangsta rap fans on whether it was true or not. They were acutally goin to different sites tryna get information on brain tumors and how people got them. A tumor, of course, is a form of cancer and the non-believers were sayin stuff like "you can't give somebody cancer." LOL! But anyway, when Sam Sneed got better and fully recovered, he himself denied what Daz said. But its hard to tell whether Sam said that because it was really true or because he scared of what Suge (who already was on probation) would do to him.

No, she died of a brain tumor, i dont think tumors are known to be caused by blows to the nhead but who knows, we dont know what causes tumors, maybe dark and lovely super formula causes them, or hats or nail polish. Anyway, saying Ruffins blows to the head helped caused her death is irresponsible.
