The Jamiroquai-concerts I saw in 1993 and 1994 are still among the best concerts I´ve ever seen. I went to see the "Funk Odyssey"-Tour in 2001, unfortunately it was one of the worst shows I´ve ever seen.
Most longtime Jamiroquai fans agree with you. They seem to prefer the first two albums. But I'm just the opposite.I became a fan in 1999,when 'Synchronized' was released. So I tend to prefer the "disco/funk" Jamiroquai sound, but then again,I'm a huge disco fan anyway My favorite album is 'A Funk Odyssey'.

Onenitealone...what's your favorite Jamiroquai album?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
DavidEye - you've got me there. I only own one - 'Travelling Without Moving' but I really need to get 'Funk Odyssey'.
They're one of those bands whose singles I absolutely LOVE but never get round to listening to. I always wish they'd hurry up and release a Best Of! That'll be amazing. That said, I love that new track so we'll see... I may get the new album.

'A Funk Odyssey' is my favorite, that album is flawless!
'Synchronized' is a close second.Songs like "Planet Home" and "Where Do We Go From Here" is the type of aggressive funk that you don't hear too much these days. Vainandy would LOVE this band,if he were to hear their albums.

OK, I think I remember Jamiroquai after reading this. Wasn't he out in the early to mid 1990s and had a few hit? Was he a white guy that wore a big hat that kinda resembled The Cat In The Hat? I remember his music being kinda smooth and jazzy type funk that I could take or leave. If he's changed his style and gotten into more uptempo disco type funk, I'll definately be checking him out. Vain - I'll let DavidEye convince you as he's the main fan round here but - seriously - I'm sure you'd love their more recent stuff. Very funky. He seems to weave all the best elements of disco and funk.
And, yeah - he still likes his hats. Like the Dr Seuss of funk.

If they do release a "Best Of", it would have to span multiple CDs. I'd personally want to include virtually every track from Jamiroquai's first two albums, which I think are absolutely brilliant (Emergency on Planet Earth and Return of the Space Cowboy). However, I'm optimistic about Jamiroquai's new release. "Seven Days in Sunny June" is the best track I've heard from them in YEARS -- in fact, I'm buying the new project on the strength of that song alone.

I've only heard three songs from the new album... "Electric Mistress"---a fast,electro/funk track with a disco feel to it.Extremely funky bassline! "Feels Just Like It Should"---the first single.A rock/funk number. "Seven Days In Sunny June"---a GREAT track!! Classic Jamiroquai.A nice, midtempo jam that just mesmerizes. So,based on those three tracks,I'd say the album is gonna be pretty good

I'm at home now and this raggedy computer still will not play it. After seeing how other people who were fans of his earlier music (which I could take or leave) were pissed when he changed his style to a more uptempo disco style, I don't doubt your word. Reminds me of how pissed I was when Prince changed his style in 1985. I'll be checking out one of these albums this weekend. Which one of these two is better? Andy is a four letter word.

If Sony were smart, they would rush-release that song as the second single. It's almost June, and that's a perfect song to take us into the summer.Every fan that I've talked to seems to agree that it is one of their strongest songs.
