Bloc Party!

Give it up for this cool new band from the U.K. They've got that raw Punk/Funk sound, and are slowly but surely becoming one of the best Alternative/Indie bands out today. I've seen them live already, and they rock!

i've almost bought this album several times, but i keep putting it back. i don't know why...there are so many 80s revival bands that i've checked out and haven't really liked, i keep thinking the same's gonna happen with them. i oughtta just take the plunge and give 'em a shot.

I must be turning into the new NWF, that's what I've been buying recently and I got this one too. I certainly like them a lot, I don't know who I could compare them to in this recent rush of new wave bands, even if they al become a clone of each other. If the Killers are suits like Spandau Ballet or Roxy Music, I 'd say that Bloc Party are like the Psychedelic Furs or Echo & The Bunnymen, I don't know if that's a good analogy but it works for me. Anyhow, I'm not the most discerning critic, I'll listen to anything at least once.

This cd has been in constant rotation in my car/house/headphones for a couple of weeks. Theres been a lot of hype about the the Cure's 17 seconds lately. If you like the crisp production of that album, you'll probably dig this too.

I hate blok party. It sounds like music has taken a step back to the early 80's. Po faced "intelligent" bullshit.

it does not help that when interviewed, these guys are arrogent boring fuckers either.

Oh, Sorry I was typing in general to anyone who likes it, fine. How ironic are the name of the group. They must think they are so clever.

Ladies loved Mikes Mulleto hair back in the day. Kinda strange really.

I was at first "wow, cool name, maybe some cool dance tracks or somit" but nooooo.

As for Michael, he cut his hair and his sales just sorta stopped. But he still does release music I think. At one point he was one of sony's premier artists.

falloff

ok. fair enough. But they dont really sound like the cure. But the sound quality of an album like 17 seconds (crisp production;sounds being seprated so that you hear each instrument in detail) is my basis for comparison not the music. Im at work so I dont have time to wage a full-on Pr campaign for these guys, but if I had the time I would. THink Interpol. THey have all these influences that are apparent in their music , but they still come off as original IMHO. Same w/ Bloc Party.
