*Universal Records is being labeled a bully by a promotions company who claims it was coerced by the music giant into submitting false invoices – which, in turn, made Universal’s biggest artists, such as Nelly, pay for other artists' promotions, according to the promoters.

National Music Marketing and Majestic Promotions have filed a $100 million lawsuit against Universal accusing the music company of fraud, racketeering, trade libel and breach of contract.

"I'm sure Nelly is not going to be too happy that they were taking money out of his promotion budget to pay for promotions for other artists - money that he had to pay back from his royalties," the promoters' lawyer David DJ Cohen tells WENN.

The promoters also claim Universal ordered radio stations to avoid doing business with them after they refused to submit fraudulent invoices.

Surprise surprise. If they want to save money, these record companies need to do away with the huge expense accounts some of their executives have. confused
