I didn't pay attention to most of the music coming out in 1995 but these albums were great!
, The Gold Experience: The finest album from the Artist Then Formerly Known As Prince since Lovesexy and to date. It was raw, it was tight, it was cohesive, and sadly overlooked.
D'Angelo, Brown Sugar: D'Angelo's debut album, tho in hindsight just a shade overrated, helped usher in the neo-soul era, which despite many complaints, was a welcome development overall. The singles are the finest songs.
Mobb Deep, The Infamous: The East Coast gangsta era, led by B.I.G., was continued in full force by this superb debut. A hip-hop classic for so many reasons.
Raekwon, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx: Nearly every hardcore East Coast MC has "shark bit" this album. It plays like a gangland movie, the beats and flow are impeccable, and it shows us where the REAL heart of Wu-Tang was: with the dynamic duo, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I was totally in love with Symphony or Damn, but I gave up on Vibrator after a week and haven't gone back since. I bought it on the first day too expecting great things. Maybe I should give it another chance. | |
