The song you play before you go to sleep... KD Lang's Simple, from her Hymns Of The 49th Parallel album, sent by my musical guru.
flawless light in a darkening air alone...and shining there love will not elude you love is simple i worship this tenacity and the beautiful struggle we're in love will not elude us love is simple be sure to know that all in love is ours and love, as a philosophy is simple i am calm in oblivion calm, as i ever have been love will not elude me love is simple be sure to know that all in love is ours... is ours... that all in love is ours and love, as philosophy is simple... and ours... These words, as sung by KD, never failed to give me strength when I felt weak. The first time I heard it I cried... the simple surrender I felt upon hearing this melody, these words, that voice... This is the song I want to take to bed with me when I close my eyes.

Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird. And if that mockingbird don't sing, Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring. And if that diamond ring turn brass, Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass. And if that looking glass gets broke, Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat. And if that billy goat don't pull, Papa's gonna buy you a cart and bull. And if that cart and bull turn over, Papa's gonna buy you a dog named Rover. And if that dog named Rover won't bark. Papa's gonna to buy you and horse and cart. And if that horse and cart fall down, Well you'll still be the sweetest little baby in town.

This is the song I want to take to bed with me when I close my eyes. It's still my favorite kd song. The new arrangement transforms the song into something entirely different. I felt the same way when I first heard it, like I'd known it forever. One of the most special things I'll ever hear.

One of my favourite recordings. I rarely mention it because it's kind of a 'personal' record, and I really only listen to it when the mood is right - long, dark nights when I want to peer into the darkest recesses of my soul or something daft like that.

Every night I fall asleep to a compilation I made of Janet's ballads. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

One of the greatest regrets of my life is not attending the New Music festival in my city when Gavin Bryars performed this piece with our symphony. Apparently it got the longest standing ovation ever witnessed in our concert hall. I'm no hippie, but I do believe that music can have restorative powers, and this is such a piece. When life gets to be a bit much, this album can be very healing.

But in the last several years, I can't do it anymore. I find myself thinking about the lyrics, anticipating the next song and getting through the whole thing. Just recently since I've gotten back into Tori Amos, I might listen to a couple songs on my iPod right before I turn over. And I sleep even better. Lately, it's been her cover of "Rattlesnakes".

"here comes the sun"
I used to have this on an old music box. It sounded closer to George Benson's rendition of it. Kind of ironic given the lyrics, but it put me to sleep real quick. The Young and the Restless theme song would also knock me out in an instant...

For real? Doh! The reason for my jukebox threads is to get a reaction from people and yours are always the ones I look out for most. You have redirected me to music I had kind of pushed aside. Really grateful for re-awaking my interest in music. I still had it, but it was kind of withered after having worked in a recordstore for so long, where you HAVE to listen to music... BTW< you AND Ian are both people whom's musical taste I will not blindly follow, but always check out.

My bedtime cd varies from night to night but the most recent are:-
Eurythmics - Peace Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now Alison Moyet - The Voice Alison Moyet - Hometime Last night's though was People by Hothouse Flowers. Some people are like Slinkies...
They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
