Roisin Murphy of Moloko's Solo Project!

I just found out that Roisin Murphy of Moloko has 3 solo EP's coming out! I don't know if this will be available in the US yet but I heard something about them being released one at a time about a month apart. I can't wait! I love this woman she is the real deal. Screw Bjork! Roisin rocks but she's so underrated. Anyone else into her music? By the way, one of the cd's is supposedly going to be funk!

I'll give it a try to describe it (not really good at that): if I compare it with Moloko, it is definitely less poppy than their last cd (statues) but more extravagant like the first cd's. You know: special sounds, electronica... Again: I don't have it myself, heard it a couple of times on the radio, can't describe it any better.
It's what you would expect from her solodebut. At least what I expected. biggrin

Thanks for the description and i'd love to hear more of what you think after you've heard it again. I love her voice and she's funky as hell. I want to see her perform live too.

Okay, just got both Sequins 1 & 2. Love it. It's wacky like I like it!

Love The Night Of The Dancing Flame. Hell, I love 'm all. The songs are a bit more minimalistic compared to the Moloko work, seems so after one listen anyways.

Her music is what you would get when you cross Björk's music with that of the funky (1986) Prince.

nice, I dig Moloko and her vocals. would be cool to check this out. cheers.

btw, hope you heard the track she featured on a few years ago with Handsome Boy Modelling School. deserved the looping treatment.

i have both of these. cool

one of them is even signed! cool cool

i started a thread about this project awhile back and got 2 replies. lol

The person shes collaborating with on this project is Herbert, who i'm a big fan of. IMO, this seems to be more of a Herbert project than a Roisin, its pretty much the same style i'm use to hearing from him. Anyways, i'm loving it! this is some of the best stuff i've heard all year. can't wait for the 3 edition. hopefully, i'm able to get a new stylus before i get it. lol

How did you get copies of these and where from? I'm dying to get them. I thought they weren't coming out until next month??

So how would you describe the songs? Are they funky? Electronica? Do tell!

you can go to www.moloko.co.uk and visit their shop (sign up as a molokoid, too. smile). i know the vinyl release is limited, but i doubt they're all gone.

The style of this release seems to be jazzy downtempo. As gooey said, wacky & funky. I'll have to add gorgeous and mysterious. wink

You can hear samples here. http://www.boomkat.com/it...m?id=16133

this is where i bought the first release, but then found out that i could get a signed copy from moloko's site. pout

roisin also has her own website http://roisinmurphy.com/

this will be up for sell in may.

Man, I know i'm gonna get a lot of shit for this but fuck Bjork. She's so phoney. Roisin is the real deal. She's everything Bjork wishes she could be and so much more. It's all about Roisin!

LoL
When I compared them I was not saying one is better than the other. Certain aspects of their music and their attitude towards music is the same, that's all.

Hehehe. And I think you would be surprised to find out that even you might perceive her persona as phoney, Björk's attitude to music is 'hella' pure. Music is one of her artforms, her persona is another.

The reason loads of people deem her phoney is because she does not take her persona very serious, as she does her music. She is very good at relativating her persona and offering up perceptions for the art of her work.

People still roll their eyes at her swan dress a few years back, but hey! They still get the designer clout, which was one of the reasons she wore it.

I've been calling around to some record stores and no one seems to be carrying any of these EPs yet. I'm getting anxious! One of the stores says the full length cd comes out in June. sad

if you're in the U.S. they have to be imported. You won't find 'em in your local record stores, unfortunately.

I think Virgin Megastores are pretty good with carrying imports so I may try and find this later after work. Gotta get me hands on this! Are there some cool pics of Roisin, on the in lay?
