I've been wondering about this for a while. I'm more interested in the outcome of this trial than the MJ one. R is the one who really needs to be in court.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I doubt it now. The alleged victim has denied that it was her on the tape and, besides, the case is going to be harder to bring to trial now that so much time has elapsed since his original arrest.

The last I heard on my local TV station was that it was tentatively set for January, 2006. However, these things are usually held over for continuance, so don't set your calendar by that date.

Even so, don't think that R. Kelly will easily get off because of the long time taking this case to trial. He's dealing with a bunch of prosecutors who sent a former congressman to jail for having sex with a minor, sent a white supremacist hatemonger to jail for conspiracy to murder a former college basketball coach (who was African American), even though the actual killer killed himself after being cornered by police in a high-speed car chase, and sent a former gangbanger to jail after raping a 10 year old girl, beat her severely, posioned her and left her for dead. (She survived but suffered some brain damage; she is currently undergoing massive therapy.) I have to give these prosecutors a lot of credit for going out of their way NOT to try this case in the media, as what has been done to Michael Jackson, Martha Stewart and Scott Peterson.

See the fact they have him on tape is what gets me. Imagin if Michael was on tape doing what he was accused of. I don't like bringing race into things when it's not needed, but one has to wonder what would be the public mindset had the girl in R's tape been a white girl.

His ass would not have been allowed to tour (several times) before the trial and then he would have been in jail.

sad but true. public outcry on these things usually depends on how the media portrays the case. in no way comparing the severity of the cases, but when little white children and/or women come up missing or murdered, it's on the front page of USA Today, in People magazine, leading off CNN, and you really get it thrust in your living room until it's resolved, one way or another. can't think of the last time i saw anyone of color get the same kind of coverage. NOW, with that being said....the fact that the alleged victim is denying that it's even her in the damn tape shows a lack of credibility and stupidity beyond reproach. Her parents/guardian/care giver should have been all over the news sullying this man's reputation as a sex offender, so much that no promoter would have touched him witha 10-foor pole. Too bad he didn't get exposed as being soft until the Jay-Z thing got going.

Yeah, the charges from Florida were dropped because the police searched in his house out there without a warrant. Even though they found more tapes, its matter didn't cause they perfomed an illegal search. But the charges in Chicago are still currently pending.

R. Kelly could've EASILY got off from day one if he wouldve just said that the girl in the sextape lied about her age, but no, he denied it was him even though he's all on the fucking camera - on one of the tapes, somebody acutally called his name ("Robert") in the background, and in that same scene, you can see on of his awards sitting on the desk. And I believe the room of tape with the underage girl (w/ the jacuzzi) was seen on BET's How Ya Livin when they toured his house. And his former protege Sparkle claims that the girl on the tape is her neice.

and yet...you have MJ getting raked over the coals over some he say/he say shit...substantiated by a bunch of crooks and gold diggers....something in the water does not compute. then again, if the LAPD can get off with a video of the clubbing Rodney King like a baby seal, anything is possible. confused

R is most definitely guilty, with far more proof than anything in the Michael Jackson case. For some reason, folks don't seem to have as big of a problem because his victim is female. To me, child molestation is the crime, and it shouldn't matter what sex the victim or the perpetrator are. Guess America is just THAT homophobic.
