Anxy's song of the day...'It's Alright' (Baby's Coming Back) by Eurythmics

It's alright - baby's coming back
And I don't really care where he's
been.
It's alright - baby's coming back
And I won't turn him around this time.

I'll be your cliff (you can fall down
from me).
I'll be your ledge (you can lean upon
me).
I'll be your bridge, your flowering tree
You can still depend on me...
And I'll be (the ticking of your clock).
And I'll be (the numbers on your
watch).
And I'll be (your hands to stop the
time).
I'll even be your danger sign.

And I'll be (your grace your dignity).
And I'll be (your night your destiny).
And I'll be (your comfort and your
ease).
I will be your storm at seas...
And I'll be (your sharp intake of
breath).
And I'll be (your work I'll take no rest).
And when the world falls to decline
I'll be yours and you'll be mine.

(Make it easy on yourself tonight)
.

confused

It is a great track, but there is plenty better than Be Yourself Tonight in their catalogue.

Don't get me wrong, Be Yourself Tonight is a good album, but songs like "Here Comes That Sinking Feeling" and "Better to Have Lost in Love" weigh it down. All in all, I'd say it has 3 great songs, 4 good ones and 2 that are filler.

Maybe I'm a little biased for this was the first album I bought by them but my opinion is their first albums are superb up until this one.
They would never hit higher.Peace was not the same anymore confused

Though Savage is another favourite of mine neutral

Savage is mostly great too, but there are some relative duds on there as well.

All of their albums would make my personal top 100, so the complaints from my end are merely minor ones.

Those 4 albums leading up to Be Yourself Tonight were all groundbreaking masterpieces. Be Yourself Tonight is a great pop/rock album but doesn't form any new musical ground, although it does mark a successful change in direction for them.

Revenge is a typical latter half Eurythmics release. It has some stunning, if not groundbreaking, tracks and a few songs that make you scratch your head. However, "Thorn in My Side", "Missionary Man", "The Miracle of Love", "The Last Time" and "I Remember You" are all perfect 10s.

i guess it's one of those subjective tastes things. 'savage' and '1984' are the only eurythmics albums i can stand to listen to from beginning to end. to my ears, all the rest of their albums have like one or two fantastic songs, one or two tolerable songs, and a bunch of hooey filler. and i loathed 'peace'...wasn't too thrilled with 'we two are one', either. but then, i didn't like annie's 'bare' album and i'm just now mildly warming up to 'medusa'. i guess i like my annie a bit on the melodramatic side. lol

i don't know if i'd say 'infallible', but it's one of the more listenable of their early albums, definitely. nod

Annie's biography details just how creative the poverty stricken D 'n A had to be to create this album. It's really amazing.

great song smile

I can never decide which I like better: Sweet Dreams or Savage.

But I always go with Sweet Dreams because it has more memories associated with it. It was really the first album that I got into when i was a kid that wasn't music my parents were listening to.

NEED REMASTERS!!!!!

I love Revenge.... The only tracks that I tend to think is a bit weaker than the others is "A Little of Me", and "Thorn in my Side" is my least favorite Eurythmics single.. with the possible exception of "Angel".

But wow, "Missionary Man".... "I Remember You".... "In This Town"..... sigh. I love Eurythmics.

Has everyone heard the acoustic version of Missionary Man? So fantastic.

it's good. i like it. there are a lot of songs on that album i think are kinda "eh", though maybe if i knew they were like recording them in rest stop bathrooms dressed in potato sacks, i dunno, maybe i'd love 'em more. maybe i should read that biography. or maybe i just have falliable ears. perhaps i am doomed. i don't know. i just know there are other eurythmics albums i click with more, and i've been into 'em since 'sweet dreams' first came out. i'll go jump in the mouth of a volcano now. lol

lol No need for that. I wasn't meaning to come off as a know-it-all, but I honestly can't find fault with that album.

one thing i've always wondered about the SW album. Why did RCA keep going with it after the 1st and 2nd singles failed? If they lacked so much faith in the project, why didn't they shut it down after The Walk and This is the House both flopped. I'm glad they stuck with it.... that might have been D&A's last album if they had left it for dead after 2 flop singles.

which is what would probably happen today if any album did the same thing..
