"I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Elvis often spoke with reverance for the Black music styles he performed , and the artists who inspired him . Many Black performers of his era (such as BB King, James Brown, Ivory Joe Hunter, Jackie Wilson, and Sammy Davis Jr) said that Elvis treated them with respect and dignity, which was unusual from any White person in the 1950s, much less a Southerner. He wasn't perfect (who is ?), but it seems that he's held up as the sole poster boy for Music Biz racism . (And I'll ask the question I raised before : If it's "wrong" for Elvis to sing Blues and R&B, why is it "OK" for Charley Pride to sing Country, or Leotyne Price to sing Opera ? ) #SOCIETYDEFINESU
