Toni Braxton - new single

http://www.toni-online.com/news.html

This is someone that hasn't been mentioned on the ORG in a while? Well, not to my knowledge.

When I think of Toni, I think of an artist with a distinctive voice (some comparisons to Debroah Cox) who is right below the league that includes Mariah Carey.

This tracks is so average it's not funny, It sounds like something Tracey Spencer would have rejected in 1998.

Last year,I heard that she was going back into the studio with Babyface to work on a new album.Hopefully,he didn't have anything to do with this weak track.

And the fact that it's so average might just make it a hit...Don't want to try anything. It's not bad but a comeback single? hmph!

The song has no punch and sounds really dated. I guess her new label must not be investing in her new album.

It might not be that they aren't investing. Maybe they don't realize that there is nothing there or maybe they gave Toni too much freedom. You're right about there being "no punch". An upbeat R&B song needs a little something extra, a punch or maybe a pulse...something. If that is the lead single, this new album will be a bigger bomb than her last!

Toni and Janet and Mariah all started out as classy, mature women. somewhere along the way they decided that acting like slutty 17 year old trailer trash was going to catapult them from multi-million-selling acts to god knows what. backfired majorly for all of them. i miss the days when these 3 actually acted like self-assured, mature, interesting women, rather than the misguided Britney & Christina wannabes that they've turned into.

LOL - I love slutty/mature women - it's a wonderful combination. lol
If any female on this thread fits that description, holla @ me..But all jokes aside - i think most songstresses want to be sex symbols?...like all male singing acts want to be hunks.

Toni, Janet, and Mariah all love the same thing - Fame and attention

Are you saying they like dwindling sales? Frankly, not enough people remember the last thing Toni did, whether it was trashy or not. If you ask most people, they'll probably tell say, yeah is she still around?

That was my jam...that album was hated on by lots of people for no reason...strong cuts like "Lies Lies" "Hit The Freeway" "Give It Back" dancing jig "Show U The Way Out" and some of the slow jams held it together.

Too bad the rekid company didnt promote just because she was having a baby and they didnt want to show her just from the waist up. disbelief

Toni got a baby and a husband, plus she starred in the play Aida...where were the ho's when she was doing that? Where was the media glitz? Where was the prince.org positivity?

Ya'll gonna make me say sumthin' Im'a regret so I'll stop.
