Mariah trying to be PRINCE I have often felt that Mariah was trying various things to be like PRINCE. And Im sure after the Year that PRINCE had MARIAH was inspired that maybe she could do the same thing. Now obviously Musically these two are Night and Day to each other, but there are things that Mariah does that seem to be PRINCE like. I have heard in the past that the two have spoken on various occasions, also PRINCE has commented on Mariahs Vocals during concerts saying He would rather hear BAD NOTES than a backing Track.
Two Immediate comparisons come with this CD, first the use of EMANCIPATION in the title, not only that In the liner notes of the CD Mariah Breaks down the Meaning of Emanciaption, the spelling of it, and how it is to be Pronounced. Another comparison is Mariahs SAMPLE use on this CD of "Betcha By golly Wow" not the Original version, but a Piano Instrumental of it. In the past there have been many other things that have seemed to be very Prince Like. But no one can Deny the Media Blitz Mariah is having now and throughout this coming week or two. I mean it all starts Tomorrow, a new Video premiere, then a show in Times Square, the BET special, The Save the Music Concert at the End of the week, the Instore appearance In NYC, an Mtc appearance and Special, and a few other things. She just has a similar situation with her label and it was really worst because her ex-husband was working to destroy her career. It makes her situation a little different from P's. | |

I look at her career not as 'transforming' as Princes...every Prince album is a different experience from eachother. With Mariah its kind of the same formula from "Mariah Carey" to "Daydream" Then the same formula from "Butterfly" to today.
Though I hope this next album will be somewhat of a change from Charmbracelet (which cudda had at least 5 - 6 songs left off the album as B-Sides or sumthin). Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Wow! I noticed the same thing. She is doing things that are very Prince-like! I noticed that lately, she's been wearing HEELS! HEELS! Prince wears heels! Get the connection! Oh, and notice how on her new CD her hair is all blowing in the wind like Prince's was during the Sign of the Times concert video? And, get this: In her new video she WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR!!!!! Remember, remember, remember Prince walked through the door in his Batdance video. THAT COPYCAT CHIPMUNK LOOKING BITCH! She needs to find her own identity and stop trying to steal Prince's ideas!
