Hilary Duff to f*ck up, I mean RE-RECORD classic Madonna song

Sorry if I'm late on this.

But I was watching Showbiz Tonight and they said that Hilary Duff and her cling-on sister who are making a movie called Material Girls (in part with Madonna's Maverick production company) will remake Madonna's "Material Girl" song.

I am very VERY pissed off about this. Some things are untouchable. Hilary doesn't have the savoir faire to record anything of Madonna's. Please!

I can't believe Madonna would support this. I say we kidnap the bitch before she gets into the recording studio.

Here's an article from Zap2it:

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - After covering the Go-Go's "Our Lips Our Sealed," Hilary Duff is now taking on the Material Mom herself, Madonna.
The teen star will sing a cover of the '80s hit "Material Girl" for her appropriately titled upcoming film "Material Girls" co-starring sister Haylie Duff, report news sources. There's no word if the Duffster will re-create Madonna's video, a tribute to Marilyn Monroe's "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" sequence from "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."

For those with foggy memories or unfamiliar with "Material Girl," here's a sampling of the lyrics: "Boys may come and boys may go, and that's all right you see/Experience has made me rich, and now they're after me."

Actually, I don't really have a problem with her re-doing "Material Girl". Seems like an easy hit, and probably won't eclipse the original. Any of that pre-Like A Prayer Madonna I think is OK to re-do.

somewhat unrelated,but...

I heard that Tori Amos sings "Like A Prayer" during recent concerts. In the past, she performed "Live To Tell" at a few shows. They're talking about this on the Madonna boards.

Well, Madonna never wrote the song and apparently she hates it now in days despite performing it on her tour.

I know it's a classic Madonna song, but I'm sure Hilary can manage it....

Though i vow never to isten to it.....

I would be pissed if she did Like a Prayer or Live to Tell or something along those lines.

I think Kelly Osbourne popped the "Madonna cover" cherry, so it basically doesn't matter after that one.

I wouldn't say "sucks"... but I generally don't mind this type of fluff being messed with.

It's "Material Girl"...who cares! Madonna hates the song (her preformances of it in the "Who's That Girl", "Blond Ambition" and from what I've heard "Re-Invention Tour" are proof of that...she hates it or is bored as hell with it).

I like the Duffster but she where to touch "Like A Prayer" or even my favorite "Who's That Girl", maybe then I would care.

Excatly!

I don't think she's ever liked it. During "Ciao Italia", her "Cyndi" homage/impressionation shows she was totally goofing on it and I thought it was kind of sad because the crowd loved the song (I'm kind of sick of it, though, Maddy). It should also be noted, again, Madonna did not write the song which is possibly she is so seperated from it, as well as "Like A Virgin".

And it's "Material Girl" for crissakes. Who cares, it's a crap song anyway. I thought I was going to read that Hillary Duff was covering "Get Into the Groove or "La Isla Bonita".

After hearing the Like a Prayer performance by Tori, I was musing how she's the only one who has the power and guts to pull off a Madonna song -- or at least enhance it and give it power...especially considering the types of musical icons they both are. An interesting homage indeed.
