Hm... two albums listed under 'D', two 1991 releases, two mainstream successes, two androgynous musical titans and their very first commercial sell-outs.. which would win?

Anyhoo, I'd vote if only I owned "Diamonds and Pearls." confused

they both suffer from the 90's (especially early 90's) plague of being overly long to fill up a disc, just because there's space to do so. too much filler on both.

would have both made killer 10-track and/or 45 minute discs, though.

Yeah that was happening then. But I love "dangerous" even more now because each track is long. I love the way they vamp out. Like "in the closet" or "cant let her get away".

"dangerous" for me then. "d and p" may not have dated as badly (though songs like "daddy pop" and "push" sound more dated then "turtle power") but I love Newjack and Michael at least bothered to go half way with Teddy producing.

Dangerous so far... D&P isn't innovative at all... It's a good average soul/funk album...

Dangerous could be a Classic if there weren't songs like Heal the World and the childish Black or White...

thumbs up! Michael singing (lead) in the lowest tone he ever has!

1991 was a great year for R&B. I'm going with Dangerous. D & P is one of those albums by Prince that I almost never play.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

alright now i have to speak my peace, but anyone who says Diamonds and Pearls is a virtual Prince KISS ASS(notices he's in a prince forum,)
Diamonds and pearls is princes BIGGEST SELL-OUT ALBUM TO DATE!
Even more than Rave ever was!
Sure it has good tunes like strollin and cream but C'mon!
Honestly when was the last time you listened to that entire album?
92? lol
Hell Chaos and disorder is better...
wait a minute...
perhaps im being too hasty...
Now in my opinion dangerous is alright.
But D&P ack
C'mon Jug head?
Daddy Pop?
the ever so corny thunder!

Cream, Gett off

This is weird for me to say this but I have to give it to Dangerous. I don't hate any song on Dangerous where I have at least 2 songs that I absolutely can't stand from D & P.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Dangerous is much more interesting than Diamonds & Pearls.

I cringe when "Thunder" comes on. Only for secret headphone playing...but if I put that on around my people they would be lookin at me like omg confuse :me: boxed

But then "Jam" comes on dancing jig time 4 every1 2 start dancin!

Diamonds & Pearls was my first Prince album I got in my life for myself for my birthday. I loved it then, but it is dated and I only pick a select few trax to play from time 2 time.

Dangerous I can ALMOST play it all though without stopping it except for "Heal The World and "Cant Let Her Get Away"
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Both albums are certainly not either artist's best work by no means but I would say "Dangerous" is better for the song "Jam" alone.

Let's break it down to the LCD.

"Jughead" or "Heal The World"?

Heal the World.

What's wrong with this song, i thought it was beautiful. We had to sing it in grade 8 because our teacher loved the song.
It may be sappy but MJ just pours out his heart, and to some it's just sappy..... but it's beautiful.

However, the song will mean dick if he's found to be a guilty child molester

Not a contest, too much throwaway stuff on D&P for me. Dangerous only has a couple of toe-curlingly cheesey songs on it and even they're listenable. D&P at least half of it is awful IMO.

Daddy Pop, Cream, Strollin', Walk don't Walk, Jughead and Push are all neutral

Dangerous for me.

Hmmm, lets see...

Jughead, Push, Thunder, Diamonds & Pearls, Daddy Pop...

Or Who Is It, In The Closet, Give Into Me, Jam...

LOL. This thread is so lame.

DANGEROUS!

I love Dangerous! MJ´s best album! If the competition was with prince or Gold or something, The vault or something, I´d have harder times deciding.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

'Diamonds and Pearls' lol

This album isn't a masterpiece or anything, but it contains at least five great songs: "Cream","Strollin","Gett Off","Insatiable" and "Live For Love".I played this album to death back in 91/92.

MJ's 'Dangerous' has a few cool tracks, but it was too "trendy-sounding".In 1991,every R&B artist was making music like that.

Was just listening to Will You Be There. What a soulful masterpiece touched

Hold Me
Like The River Jordan
And I Will Then Say to Thee
You Are My Friend

Carry Me
Like You Are My Brother
Love Me Lke A Mother
Will you Be There?

Weary
Tell Me Will You Hold Me
When Wrong,Will You Scold Me
When Lost Will You Find Me?

But They Told Me
A Man Should Be Faithful
And Walk When Not Able
An Fight Till The End
But U'm Only Human

Everyone's Taking Control Of Me
Seems That The World's
Got A Role For Me
I'm So Confused
Will you Show To Me
You'll Be There For Me
And Care Enough To Bear Me

Hold Me(Hold Me)
Lay your Head Lowly(Lowly)
Softly Then Boldly(Yeah-ah)
Carry Me There

Lead Me(O Me)
Love Me And Feed Me(Yeah Yeah Yeah)
Kiss Me And Free Me(Yeah-ah)
I Will Feel Blessed

Carry(Carry Me)
Carry Me Boldly(Carry-y)
Lift Me Up Slowly(Yeah-ah)
Carry Me There

Save Me(Save Me)
Heal Me And Bath Me(Lift Me Up, Lift Me Up)
Softly You Say To Me
I Will Be There(O I Will Be There)

Lift Me
Lift Me Up Slowly
Carry Me Boldly(Yeah-ah)
Show Me you Care(Carrrre)

Hold Me(Whoow)
Lay Your Head Lowly
Sofly Then Boldly
Carry Me There

Need Me(Whooh)
Love Me And Feed Me(Hold Me Up)
Kiss Me And Free Me
I Will Feel Blessed

(Spoken)
In Our Darkest Hour
In My Deepest Despair
Will You Still Care?
Will You Be There?
In My Trials
And My Tribulations
Through our Doubts
And Frustrations
In My Violence
In My Turbulence
Through My Fear
And My Confessions
In My Anguish And My Pain
Through My Joy and My Sorrow
In The Promise Of Another tomorrow
I'll Never Let You Part
For You're Always In My Heart

No way it sounds "trendy-sounding", not the last 7 songs atleast. D&P aint even in the same catagory with Dangerous IMO nod
