As a huge fan of Peter Frampton and The Bee Gees,I have to ask....why did they agree to star in this disastrous piece of crap?? To those of who who have seen this film (and there aren't that many of us) you know what I mean.It is AWFUL,no sense in denying it.As I pointed out in my 'Grease' thread a few weeks ago, musicals can be corny and silly if they're not done right. This movie is a prime example. It's a mess.I wonder how The Beatles felt about this fiasco?

There are alot of really bad movies that still manage to have a certain charm to them, but this isn't one of them.I do like a few songs on the soundtrack (Earth Wind and Fire's remake of "Got To Get You Into My Life" is a highlight) but I don't even own the CD.And as you guys know,I pretty much own everything that came out in the 70s...lol...I'm curious,is there anyone out there who actually likes this movie? Be honest.

lol

I was wondering when u were going to write this thread, Dave. To be honest, I really like this movie and , hang on, I even like the soundtrack. Look, 1978 was a magical time. U know that David, as much as I do. Yeah, the movie was chessy, but, I dig it. I went to go see this in Westwood when it was first released. Bought the album shortly after. The Bee Gees and Frampton, u couldn't get any hotter than them at that time. I have it on VHS. I still watch it sometimes.

I know the concert was from '73 but I thought the film footage was recorded later than that? I always assumed it was in 1975. hmmm

Jimmy doing Yoga? Well, I guess it beats witchcraft. lol

as laughable as the Sgt Pepper movie was, there were two cool things to come out of it, IMO: Earth Wind and Fire's version of Got To Get You Into My Life(in fact, I like their version MUCH better than the original), and I like Peter Frampton's take on Golden Slumbers...

No, seriously. Just research SoundScan's sales information for that album.
(waiting)
You got it?
Well. It was me who bought it mr.green

Didn't you ask me for an mp3 of Robin's Oh!Darling ? confused

lol I heard it went double platinum on shipment but most were returned or destroyed.

Oh! Darling? I've never heard it, but knowing Robin's vocals it's probably more soulful than McCartney's effort. I'll d/l it sometime. wink

I saw this disatrous piece of ca-ca a long time ago. I was a child and after it went off, I wanted to kill myself for wasting my time! It was horrible!

Now that Village People film -- ugh! I feel so ashamed to even admit this.

Some extra footage was shot later, but most was shot in October of '73. Jimmy's was definitely from '73 though. I can tell by his hair. lol

Ok, thanks for putting me straight. And yeah, they were pre-heroin days so he was probably fairly healthy at that point. wink

The only thing somewhat tolerable from this disaster is Aerosmith's Come Together. Otherwise it sucks big time...I don't like EWF's Got To Get You Into My Life...I LOVE the Beatles version...and I seriously never wanted to hear a discofied version barf.

...and I GOTTA make a comment about Song Remains The Same...I LOVE it. I used to see it at midnight at our town movie theater with a bunch of friends when I was a freshman in high school, get stoned out of my mind, and just rock out to the concert and laugh my ass off at the fantasy sequences. It brings back such great memories blunt.

I don't even like EWF's version of "Got To Get You Into My Life", thus no redeemable qualities for this movie.

Gee, I wish they had played TSRTS at MY local movie theater. pout The closest I got to that was laser Zeppelin (and laser Pink Floyd) at the planetarium in San Francisco. thumbs up!

Such beautiful colors..... stoned
