I prefer Mikes music. I own 4 janet albums ("control" "1814" "janet." "damita jo"- last one was such a waste of money.) The thread isn't about who's more talented. We all know Michael is. Janet only got famous because of the prodcuers she picked. If not for jam and lewis, she wouldn't be half as sucsessful. They saved their best stuff for Janets albums. They made her career. Janet is as talanted as a average boyband member.
Jermaine is more talented then Janet, proberly Randy is too.

Michael OBLITERATES Janet on a number of levels:
1) composition 2) originality/creativity 3) vocal range, style, chops 4) plays more instruments in the studio (drums, guitar, synths) 5) dance chops-I think Michael is acutually one of the greatest dancer's of all time

Ae u serious. How can u put both of them in the same sentence. Michael no doubt hands down is better than Janet. My top 6 all time are as follows:
1. madonna 2. michael jackson 3. Prince 4. Whitney Houston 5. Then miss jackson

Having grown up loving both these nutjobs from the beginning of both their careers I’d have to say I prefer Michael. Much of the stuff Janet has done Michael (or Madonna) did. While Michael has started to become a bit stagnant with his live performances Janet has improved however I can't see her doing anything that hasn't been choreographed including walking back and forth across the stage and whipping her hand to a musical accent.
Michael has pushed the envelope musically and visually, is one of the best live performers ever, has the purist voice, and is a great lyricist. Innate or acquired, they're both out to lunch and I don't think they intend on returning either but Michael's artistry is unparalleled. Out of the whole fam I think Rebbie's the most sane. Okay, he's written some turds but I also think he's written some great songs too. In comparison to Janet they're winners. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

JANET
you can throw facts, figures, vocal abilities etc... as "evidence" that MJ is better. but they don't mean anything to me.

Rhythm Nation 1814 beats the pants off of any of Michael's albums. I also prefer All for You and The Velvet Rope to anything Michael has released. Hell, can any of her singles compare with the early Jackson 5 stuff? I'll take "Who's Lovin You" and "Mama's Pearl" over ANY Janet single.
I'll take any Janet single over the Jackson 5 stuff. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I'd have to vote Janet. I realize that she's less talented than her brother, that she copied many things from him wholesale, and that she really can't sing (Wow, listen to me defend Miss Janet ), but some part of me will always be a Janet fan.
I think her music used to be (before AFY) more mature than Mike's, her production was flawless, and her videos timeless. Look at the videos for "Black or White" and "Remember the Time" in comparison to the ones for "Rhythm Nation" and "That's the Way Love Goes"; Janet didn't equate spending millions of dollars on special effects with making a great video. His videos just look dated in this day and age, whereas her videos won't date. The same thing happens in their music. Bad and RN1814 came out two years apart, and although RN sounds like 1989, Bad has dated so badly that it sounds ridiclious now. That MIDI solo in the middle of the title song? That California R'n'B sound on "Smooth Criminal"? Dated. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I don't think it's a demo as it's sounds too detailed to be so, but I'm pretty certain it was recorded during the Dangerous sessions along with Blood On The Dance Floor.

FIRST OF ALL...IF IT WASNT FOR MICHAEL JANET WOULD BE FAMOUS... BUT IF JANET DIDNT HAVE TALENT SHE STILL WOULDNT BE AROUND SHE HAS TALENT AND THATS WHAT REALLY MADE HER FAMOUS

I vote for Janet.
her albums espeically Velvet Rope seem to be more personal and relatable, and i like how she tries to tell a story with each album. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

As for personal and relatable, 'Stranger In Moscow' alone pisses all over anything Janet has ever done. IMHO.

Control and Rhythm Nation? "He Doesn't Know I'm Alive" is k0rn and "Let's Wait Awhile" came tumbling down into the syrup jug towards the end. And parts of "Black Cat" always struck me as kind of campy. A rocker she is not. But otherwise.. nah, they ain't corny albums.
