Madonna's so called "whore" reputation

..was bullshit. Madonna did not have all these one nighters, abundance of sex partners that middle America accused her of in their minds. In fact she was no more promiscuous than any of middle America. She pushed the sex act sure, but as a way to show the hypocrisoy and irony of certain ideals (as well as maikng some money). Not saying Madonna was a good girl, but she wasn't as bad as her image presented. And that's the frustrating thing. People painted her a whore when she was all about committed relationships. I think (and hope) that people today fully understand that now.

What if Madonna did all those things, would that make her a whore? The female "whore" is a completely sexist archetype. One thing you can say about Madonna is that she fucked the best, "top shelf", no scrubs for her; it's one of the few things I like about her.

As a Madonna fan you should stop calling any woman who decides to fuck whoever she please a whore.

I don't call any woman a whore regardless of who and how many they fuck. I was talking about it from society's perpsective. I should have clarified myself better.

Nope. She fucked a lot of people, though. Madonna would laugh in your face if you told her she was "all about committed relationships" back then.

I don't think so because she was always in long term relationships at least public ones we know of. Not that it has to be pulicized, but I've never read of her galavantong with so many men or whatnot. I would think that if that were the case, then many men would have come forth with their stories to sell.

You only come forward with stories to tell if you have a chance to RUIN someone's reputation. Madonna would have only WELCOMED the attention. lol

And many would have to have it publicly known they sullied it or was part of it.

lol Yeah, sure, like Madonna was ever worried about her public reputation. PUH-LEEZE. She changed guys every week or so back in the early 90's - everyone knew about it. Most of them were famous, so they really didn't have much to say about it - the paparazzi cams caught it all on tape.

nod You won't get an argument out of me on that one. Finally, we agree on something. She was definitely a bone fide ho that was her own pimp.

well, she did have a penchant for picking up strange Latino boys in the early days of her career.

but no, you're correct. the "whore" reputation is false, if only because of the double standard implicit in applying it to her. she owns her sexuality, and is very "masculine" in her expression of it, meaning that she revels in it, does what she wants with it, and makes it work for her. the same way a man does and is praised.

but she was pretty slutty, all said and done. and there's not a thing wrong with that.

It's not a bad thing being a whore.

She decided to sleep around, who cares? A lot of people do it.

Being raised as a Catholic myself, i can understand a lot of the reasons she did what she did. She was most likely sexually repressed as a child, then just went wild in her adult life after she left the church.

More dick for Madonna.

this may be where the picture came from, but hello - there's a whole coffee table book full of pics like this. 'sex', anyone?

madonna was great at manipulating her persona so that her sexuality became this larger than life porn-cartoon that people paid attention to. it was trashy, it was liberating, and it was fun. she wasn't a 'whore' - if anything, she was more like a man-whore, because she knew what she wanted and she pursued it. she never had this image of being weak and easily manipulated, or as needing sex for validation.

then she did evita.

I have the SEX book and a lot of her nudes from the time. This will be a nice addition. I always wanted to decorate a room with Madonna nudes.

...Which was MUCH more about validation. Especially if you believe the rumor that she told people she'd win an Oscar for it. DiamondGirl, I give you credit for taking your stance and creating this thread. Personally, I'm bored of all the scathing expert assessment of Madonna's love life. Some folks know more about it than even she does.
