Duran Duran: "Skin Trade"

Does anybody dig this song as much as I do? Admittedly, Duran Duran has a lot of great songs, but "Skin Trade" has gotta be my favorite.

"Skin Trade"

Working on the weekend, baby.
She's working all through the night.
A jump into the deep end gave her
The evidence she required.
Takes five; she's got pearls.
Don't fake it when it comes to making money.
So she smiles. But that's cruel.
If you know what she thinks
If you knew what she was after.

Sometimes she wonders,
And she laughs in her frustration.

[CHORUS]
Would someone please explain
The reason for this strange behaviour.
In exploitation's name
We must be working for the Skin Trade.

Doctors of the revolution gave us
The medicine we desired.
Besides being absolutely painless
It's a question of compromise.
They got steel.
So cool to get angry at the weekend
And go back to school.
So big deal; it's what rules.
When it comes to making money,
Say yes, please; thank you.

Sometimes you wonder, and ask yourself the question.

[CHORUS (Repeated)]

I know the answer, but I'm asking you the question.

[CHORUS (Repeat for FADE)]

Duran Duran was just in town this past week, but no, I didn't go. Didn't find out about the show until it was too late. Hopefully if I ever did get to see Duran Duran in concert, they would sing this song, I heart it!!
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

This song used to be my jam. This was on the album that was produced by Nile Rodgers. What I liked about it was that it was kind of funky. fro headbang guitar

highfive Yes, this song is very funky. Dare I say that it sounds a bit Prince-like? giggle The falsetto voice I guess is what makes me think of Prince.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Great song, for them. Shit lyrics as usual.
There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

Notorious is an underrated release. I love the funk and combo of uptempo and slower songs. "Skin Trade" is a good song. I like extended version.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
