CBGB's Bowery Ballroom Roxy Webster Hall Irving Plaza (actually, I'm going there for the first time tomorrow night, but I'm sure I'll like it.) The Pyramid (I actually went with some orgers to that place for their 80's night.) I still haven't gone to the Culture Club or Situation yet though. It's all 80's/all night at those spots. I've been to all of these places except Culture Club. From what I've heard, Culture Club is more for people who like 80s top 40 as opposed to more authentic new wave. CBGB's is cool for the history, but it's pretty dingy and cramped. I've seen only goth bands perform there.

I also went to NYC's Danceteria once in 1987. It wasn't obviously like how it was in its early 80 heyday, but I remember the whole experience being pretty cool. Then again, I was very young and easily impressed at the time.

There are two neighborhoods in NYC that brothers avoid--Howard Beach and Bensonhurst. Maybe if Living Colour were playing or something I would take a chance, but Type O's background is already questionable and I wanted to avoid any potential trouble.

It’s actually Grave's End, which is close enough. It's in a very desolate spot and not so safe if anything goes down. As far as Living Color goes, I know Black folks who have been beat up and harassed at Bad Brains' shows. so go figure. it’s way safer now that the skinhead movement died down in rock.

I've seen Type O Negative a few times in Manhattan with no problems. Brothers getting harrassed at a Bad Brains concert makes no sense to me. I've been out to rock clubs and rock concerts millions of times and only once did I feel there might be a problem and didn't go inside. That was at Malibu out on Long Island back in the 90s where the old WLIR alternative station used to simulcast from on Saturday nights. As my cousins and I approached the building, one of the bouncers made a comment that pointed out how we obviously weren't regulars. We looked the club up and down and decided to spend our night elsewhere.
