Off the wall is mostly cack.

Most of thriller is good

But Bad beats it hands down.

i'm one of the few people who love "i just can't stop loving you" (why the hell no video?) and "just good friends".

"speed demon" is super funky. I love the scratchy guitar. Outtake "streetwalker" is a class act too.

"bad", dispite most of the songs being agresdive, is a clean, funky sounding album. I love the synclaviers, hammond middis etc and the hyper drum programmed frenzied beats on "bad".

Only other album that really sounds like "bad" is Siedah Garrett's solo 1988 album "kiss of life", which I remember SosGemini liking too. Rod temperton writes some tracks on their which suggests Siedahs tracks were intended for Michael but Mike passed on them and Quincy said give 'em to Siedah (she was on his label).
Look out for "kiss of life". Highly reccomended if u like "bad".

The "bad" sound woulda caught on but NewJack took over by 1990. Which for me, is both good and bad as I love Newjack (thus loving "dangerous" and the sound of "bad".)

"off the wall" just has annoying orchastrations which I generally don't like in music. Infact, I prefer the Jacksons "triumph"

I use to have Siedah's album and I really liked it. It does have a strong Temperton sound. Now I wish I still had it. sad
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

The last word of the title of the Thread. The "shomeon quotient" on Bad was 100 times higher than on Thriller. Plus, the songs overall were plain better on Thriller.

OTW is the one MJ album that will endure! Hail Quincy!

See that's another reason why Bad rocks! He says shamon about a million times on a few songs. It aint a real jacko song without shamon! Did you know the scissor sisters say that in their song "laura"? I love it! I wonder if Usher will ever try and say that?

Bad is my favorite Michael Jackson album. For me, nothing can top "Leave Me Alone" and it's hard for the others to match the highs of "Smooth Criminal", "Dirty Diana", "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Man in the Mirror". Yes, there is some crap ("I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and the Stevie Wonder duet), but all Michael Jackson albums have some.

"Bad", by far. It's Michael at his artistic peak, penning and composing nine out of its eleven tracks, co-producing the entire album, experimenting more than once, and displaying a wealth of topical variety. Plus, it's just as much a cerfified classic as its predecessors and houses just as many well-recognized and beloved pop ditties (it spawned a record-breaking five consecutive #1 US Billboard singles.. pretty damn impressive, wouldn't you think?).

And while it's true that MJ wanted to recreate the "Thriller" effect and even outsell it, I don't agree in the least it's a rehash of it. All he does is reprise the underlying themes of gangs and groupies from "Beat It" and "Billie Jean" in "Bad" and "Dirty Diana" respectively, and even then he puts an almost totally different thematic and musical twist on both (for one thing, "Dirty Diana" is heavy metal about a boy-band seductress, not fuzzy, paranoid dance about a stalker claiming paternity like "Billie Jean").

"Thriller" is among the biggest monoliths in music history (if not THE biggest) for countless external reasons that needn't be listed, but once I look past all the hype and accomplishments and simply take in the music, I don't understand what the huge deal is. neutral Everything is impeccably produced and sequenced, and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" and "Billie Jean" are immortal musical monsters ("Human Nature" is nice, too).. but "Baby Be Mine" and "Lady In My Life" are by-the-numbers R & B with second-hand lyrics about as believable as, to quote Rolling Stone Mag, "Abba's phonetic re-recording of its hits in Spanish", "The Girl Is Mine" is heese with a capital 'C' on its nose, "P.Y.T." is brain-dead rock-disco, and while "Beat It" and "Thriller" are still awesome songs, those lyrics are k-o-r-n.

Not saying "Bad" doesn't have its own flaws (the catchy but admittedly hokey title track, "IJCSLY", "Just Good Friends"..), but as a whole, I'd take it over "Thriller" any day of the year.

And this pretty much sums it up for me. I also believe BAD was Michael's artistic peak. If only people would look past the drum machines and MIDI. It's his most dated album, but it's still his best IMO.

Yeah, why would we want to do that right? Let's get this thread back on track. MJ's had 37 nose jobs and he has gagged Bubbles from talking about his relationship with children. There you go. The org can go back to normal now.

Y'all are crazy lol

'Thriller' is a masterpiece. The high points are plentiful ("Billie Jean","Beat It","Human Nature","The Lady In My Life","Wanna Be Startin Something").It's the perfect pop/R&B album of it's day.Even today,it still sounds fresh and exciting.

'Bad' has a few great songs ("Liberian Girl","Man In The Mirror" and "Another Part Of Me"),but it also has several weak tracks ("Speed Demon","Just Good Friends") and the remainder of the album is just so-so....good songs, but nothing really outstanding. This album is far from a classic.

Yo dance, u gotta get "dangerous" before "off the wall". "dangerous" is my fav MJ album. Shame he bottled out making it a full newjack album as once thought with la reid/babyface and teddy riley at the helm, but the second half is still bloody good though.

Respec! I'm gonna check it out! By the way, how was the Invincible album?
