hehehe...I was actually going to start a thread about this video that I unfortunately came across while flipping channels.

My face the entire time (it's like a trainwreck: you can't NOT watch it) was like this -----> whofarted I mean, that's what passes for rapping now days? He sounds like he just took a bottle of muscle relaxers. And the women in this video!! eek shake

Seriously, at first I thought they were all drag queens. Just OVER THE TOP hoochieness. I see what you mean about it maybe being a joke because I thought so too.

I don't know about MTV2 personally, but I saw it on the Dutch TMF channel, which ONLY plays doody, so I was not surprised in the least. biggrin

everything related to that 'candyshop' song is like watching the artistic equivalent of a car accident. it's horrible and tragic, yet for some reason i find that i can't turn away from it. it's just so unbelievably....HORRIBLE. omfg

i mean, is it possible that something this horrible can be created? and that it can become so popular? i think it's amazing.

The song has been #1 in the U.S. for the last month and the album sold almost 2 million copies in the states in the last two weeks so someone somewhere thinks it's good. Apparently just no one on the org. smile

Oh, well him and most of the other people on the Music Tyranny Videoland are. Guess I shouldn't stereotype ALL rap artists though..

Unfortunately, that's almost true. 4 of the top 11 songs on next week's U.S. chart are by 50 Cent! http://www.billboard.com/...hot100.jsp

Teens (around my age, sadly enough to say sad ) want to be cool...they think they need to be in the "in" crowd...and that requires being a sheep and buying whatever is mostly mainstream...I bet at least 50% of his sales come from superficial teens...

so is rap - as a mainstream genre - dying out? compare now with the early/mid '90s when there were a variety of rap artists and groups and 'scenes' and whatnot...it seems like now, there are just a few who are getting any kind of decent coverage at all, and the stakes for success in rap are getting more and more steep. either you're gangsta elvis like fiddy, or else your 15 minutes are more like 15 seconds. it's kinda depressing, really.

and if 50cent falls, he's really gonna FALL. he should spend a weekend with MC hammer, just for the sake of perspective.

I don't think it would be rap itself falling, just individual artists. I think it'll be quite a long time before we get through all these no name artists, and the big names, and get rid of rap, and other tyrannys to the music industry, like punk(IMHO), and everything else out there that prevents me from turning on the radio.

That reminds me, I need to get the last K-Os CD. That kind of rap music is more my speed.

I feel so good knowing that I am completely ignoring this excrement like it should be, and as much as i like asses wiggling', unless she's in front of my face shaking' her money maker, I don't care. I don't understand how some folks who like to front " I'm keepin' it real " can't see 50 as a reformed type of sellout, those songs are absolutely commercial made crack.

I still stand strong saying that "Gangstas Paradise" by Coolio is the greatest rap song of all time.

I've never seen or heard this album until today. I like rap and thought his first album was good. But what I say today was horrific. The song. The whole imagery. It's like a bad spoof. It's just downright horrible
