Musiq's 2003 Soulstar- What was good and bad about it?

Well, I never really get into this guy named Musiq that much. I don't know why. Ever since his 2000 album, Aijuswanaseing was released, he's just been very odd to me. I skipped that Juslissen record he released in May or April of 2002 because he just lost that formula he presented on Aijuswanaseing and the Juslissen album was way, way, way too long (the disc was 74 minutes). Soulstar is the only album I like by Musiq. I know the album is a little bit too experimental and long, but the flow runs very smooth. Why did so many people criticize the album? I think it was one of the best R&B releases of 2003, right under Erykah Badu's Worldwide Underground.

Honestly, I prefer the first two albums to Soulstar. Though Soulstar has some great moments, I thought the songs were a little lazier compared to the first two. He was recycling old ideas.

None of his albums are "great" per se, but I like them nonetheless. All three are above average R&B releases when compared to other so-called R&B albums in the past five years.
